She should first work on the source If she plays through those integrated sound card of her laptop, it surely doesn't have the power to drive HP1000.

I was using HP895 + thedoctor's Sijosae headamp class AB too. And yes, it will surely give you good improvements. I was planning to write a full review (in a noob way) after I get everything run in for a while.. I only used the amp for less than 8 hours so far...

i was considering another possiblities which will be :
Significant improvement : buy a USB soundcard (PSC805)
So-so improvement : buy a headamp
if she bought an headamp, she still powering it on AC97 (notebook soundcard) so it will make sound loud only, as the output by ac97 is already quite low quality.
i still thinking, if she using her HP1000 with PC805, it might sound better as pc805 have enough power to push it.

and wondering, why not ask them all hailed audiophiles attend something like a research conference or research seminars instead?
maybe some of the worlds greatest audiophiles should attend the upcoming LAC2007 - the 5th International Linux Audio Conference which will be held in Technical University Berlin and tell the world of their subjective rave comments.

i'm sure they will be hundreds of Professors, Associate Professors, PhD holders and experienced Engineers attending his time-slot. and that it will be bombarded with all sorts of questions by briliant minds that WILL see even the slightest of weak-point and attack on that, until you're speechless.

wanna ask, is the hp895 good for techno?
my bro likes techno and dance music, been playing o2jam very frequently lately, and he is using my SR80!! it hurts 
and recently he loves to use headphones rather than his altec lansing. so thought get him a headphone.

used the hp805 before and of course i wouldnt wanna buy back the same one for him, and furthermore i kinda like the hp895 

what about this question instead: is the hp895 a balance combination of jazz, clarity AND techno?
because me myself sometimes wanna use it too for some jazz and movie for myself, for a change from SR80.

Well if you rephrase it as such...Yeah it's not that bad. It's just that other headphones would perfomr better The bass just isn't enough for techno somehow. But it's ok. Still sounds good.

i kinda like the hp805 design and comfort, but i know the hp895 aint as comfortable as the hp895 but i guess it would be nice.

Dude? Well some have said that the 805 is more comfortable. I can't really say, I only have the 895

Hm..I got one. If you stay anywhere near ampang, maybe I can let you try my pair. Price? About RM 155 from Sri Com in Low Yat. However, the portapro is pretty bass heavy, and details tend to get a bit muddled. So bear that in mind. I wouldn't say it's the most balanced headphones around. Though it's pretty portable (unlike the 805/895).

Well according to mike, and the review he gave in his bulk thread, the 890 only shines if it's amped. And the 895 doesn't benefit that much from amping (I'm gonna concur-I didn't feel that much of a difference, or perhaps it's only coz I'm using a ClassAB. I honestly dunno if that's the reason or it's just my ears aren't sensitive enough ). I'd say get the 895 for the stand! Haha And the fact that you can run it without an amp and it still can sound good.

Where can you get it? Not sure of shops. I've never seen it in shops You could try mike or davis. They both sell it.
