QUOTE(Alex_T @ Jan 3 2007, 01:45 PM) Can any sifu here help me on how to improve my HP890. get a buffer based amp from ijan, then change the stock cable to canare starquad. u will quite easy to spot the different and the detail of the song.I heard so many stories that make the HP890 sounds better, eg. using amp, recabling.. etc But I really dunno where to start. If using amp, which amp is better to pair with HP890? ( PA2V2, LDM+, LD2+ ...??) as the hp890 does not use locking machanism as hp895. it is much more easier to swap cable. stock cable is some how DARK to my ear, boomy bass, and slow+fat bass. =) changing to canare some how help to tame down the bass. hohoho, don't call me king of HP890.. instead, perhaps doctor of hp890 / papa of HP890. lol This post has been edited by PcWork: Jan 13 2007, 03:44 PM |

QUOTE(sonyman @ Jan 14 2007, 01:37 AM) how much is the 890and how much is the 701, hehe, how come like the 701 dont seem to have a better built compare to 890.. no matter what bad point about 701, as long as it sound good, it deserve the price.. =)like this i must try the 890, cause i just wonder how good is it, and the price also like ok to me.. in headphone, sound quality always comes in the first place. QUOTE(Coconut @ Jan 14 2007, 02:19 PM) just got my shp895, still burning in and see any improvement ornot. The packaging is very innovative and presentable, the phone is very comfort to wear, i like how it covers your whole ear. If only we can combine the design of 895 with sr60 sound amp the HP890 seems that it can pump out powerful sound with wider soundstage compare to SR60.don't know about HP895 though, i never like 895. ask akabane@Drjacker for more info about differents of 890 and 895. |

QUOTE(Alex_T @ Jan 16 2007, 11:14 AM) Hi PCWork, I read alot of your posts regarding HP890. infact i am making it myself =)Where can I get this Canare Starquad cable for my HP890? Really interested to try it with new cable. Currently I just run it with my Iriver T30. Not amped. It sounded quite good already in this setup. What is a buffer based amp. Should I do recabling first, or get an amp first? Need to prioritize which item to get first coz I don't have much budget. but i only go back to KL during JUNE. =) if u really interested, do PM me, i might have extra parts, but have to confirm during weekend when i go back to miri during weekend. QUOTE(kelvinyam @ Jan 18 2007, 09:17 PM) Iriver T30 is just a portable MP3 player right? It could drive HP890? I've tried HP805 with my PDA and the sound sucks. I got to amp it with PA2V2. T30 is very much better than a PDA.=) PDA is like : asal got sound, enough. sound quality is not in a consideration before buying a PDA. and it's almost used to produce clicking sound when u click on screen .=P |

QUOTE(kelvinyam @ Jan 27 2007, 06:43 PM) I'm not sure about other PDA. Dell Axim is different b'cos it uses the same DAC as one of the Ipod model. This is stated in www.aximsite.com. In fact, I've compared it (PDA > KSC75) with AV710 > LD2+ > KSC75, the difference ain't that far. surprise.. it's that good?gonna go and test it out. |

QUOTE(yrh0413 @ Jan 31 2007, 08:43 PM) the 895's cable is already a LC-OFC (Linear Crystal Oxygen Free Copper) cable, you may replace the cable with Canare or whatsoever but i don't think the difference will be great. different is quite a number IMHO, according to what i comparing my stock HP890 cable to canare. especially on mid-high ,and treble.Just my RM0.02 bass is much contorlled. but i can't made Hp895 cable as it's locking thingy is very small in size. QUOTE(gsdev @ Feb 2 2007, 10:05 PM) Err, PCWork does this mean all users of SHP895 are stuck with the stock cable ?. no. can re-cable, but it will done permanently, meaning u can't simply swap cable, and it will void warranty too. i have to bypass the plugs. and solder the line directly on the headphone. or modify the plugs so that it take normal 3.5mm plug, or make it connect from both side of the headphone, or better still make it balance ... Anyone ever changed their SHP 895 cable ???... QUOTE(dinodog_Jr @ Feb 2 2007, 10:09 PM) who would like muffle mid & details? haa.. me again? =P sigh today baru i tahu i secara tak sengaja implanted so many poison ... hahahaaDat's the only pair headphone which provide wider soundstage at my home.. PCwork fixed for me last time. Else i still dunno what is soundstage bout. Everyday only Grado Rox.. philips rox. cheap and big (in term of size) hahaha QUOTE(lAh0S @ Feb 2 2007, 10:10 PM) no the plug don't even can fit in nicely. hence no connection = no sound. =PThis post has been edited by PcWork: Feb 2 2007, 10:28 PM |

Elephant glue errm, Elephant glue huh not a bad idea. Good thinking...Can super glue work toooo... Added on February 2, 2007, 10:59 pm
no. can re-cable, but it will done permanently, meaning u can't simply swap cable, and it will void warranty too. i have to bypass the plugs. and solder the line directly on the headphone. or modify the plugs so that it take normal 3.5mm plug, or make it connect from both side of the headphone, or better still make it balance ... If not mistaken the SHP 895 plug is like smaller than 3.5mm, maybe 2.5mm. I tried it and it works by just pluging in the jack without twisting to lock the cable.
i knew it's 2.5 but normal 2.5mm plug can't be so small. look at the tip, where the plastic part is so hell small. just after the plugs. normal plug will have one round things around it. see this picture for more detail. i tried my very best to make already, and i confirm i can't make it. except i modify the headphone. if you want some ppl to make the custom cable with the same plug, forget about it, i don't think anyone can do it, except mess with the original plug.
