Any telco will have some form of restriction or charge when you go over your quota. IF that's what you're asking. Celcom and Digi limit your bandwidth. Maxis charges you. Pick your demon.

Whichever one you choose, browsing won't be halted altogether.

Umobile is unlimited. When u exceed cap they will throttle you which is fair seeing as their package is cheap.

The only con is, their bandwidth quota is small.

Think outside the box.

Can use wireless portable hard drives which you can put in your pocket or bag.

Wanam StockMod kernel out: http://bit.ly/MUYV7m

Flash it and enjoice the buttery goodness.

Also, the CPUSLEEP app (or script) does not work because supposedly hotplugging already does this. The script/app even screws up screen-on battery life.

Check HERE for info.

I'm deleting the script off my init.d.

You don't need wireless HDD. There's one particular type of Samsung 1.8 inch external hard disk (the Mini S1) that works with the SIII. No external power needed.

Good luck trying to find it on the market though lol. It's an old model, and only the 120GB model has been tested to work.

But heck. 120GB for your phone lol. Until the 128GB cards start rolling out, who can beat that (and even after that, 128GB + 120GB storage you can stuff in two pockets lol).

And, technically, wimax is 3.75G. Only LTE is 4G. Anything else is just telco bullshiat.

EDIT: The Mini S1 250GB seems okay with OTG too. Time to go shopping.

I prefer wireless mobile hard drive so mobile not weighed down.

Con: still need to plug the hd to a powersource.

Apple vs Samsung patent lawsuits
m.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-19022935

Samsung s3 latest stock firmware removed the infringing global search feature.

Yet the lawsuit continues because apple claims Samsungs tablets and smartphones are too closely resembling theirs.

What brought about this lawsuit ? Could it be the 5+billion in profit from the sales of the Samsung galaxy s3 and the fact it has resulted in trimming away apples smartphone market share?

www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/samsung/9431621/Galaxy-S3-brings-record-profits-for-Samsung.html

The s3 is already being dubbed the iPhone killer so unless apple can impress with the iPhone5, they are screwed.

Hi Eric, you can’t use OTA after rooted. Please use Samsung Kies to upgrade firmware.

here is my intro guide for what you need for your samsung galaxy s3 (i tested on the international version) icon_rolleyes.gif

i used the cf-root with odin3 to root my samsung s3

here is the guide

http://www.jayceooi.com/2012/06/09/how-to-...-cf-root-video/

http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s3-...recovery-95849/

QUOTE
XDA Elite Recognized Developer Chainfire has done it yet again. After being the first to root the device (sight-unseen, no less), Chainfire has released his nearly ubiquitous CF-Root for the device.

For the uninitiated, CF-Root isn’t a complete ROM, nor does it pretend to be. Rather, it is arguably the simplest entry point to superuser status on your mobile device. Geared towards those wanting to remain as close to stock as possible, flashing CF-Root replaces your original Samsung kernel with a rooted variant. In addition to substituting in a rooted kernel, CF-Root also features CWM Manager and the ported version of ClockworkMod Recovery we covered earlier.

According to Chainfire himself:

CF-Root is the root for “rooting beginners” and those who want to keep as close to stock as possible. CF-Root is meant to be used in combination with stock Samsung firmwares, and be the quickest and easiest way for your first root.

What’s installed
- Root: SuperSU
- Recovery: ClockWorkMod
- Util: CWM Manager

Kernel

Unlike CF-Root for some other devices, this iteration of CF-Root does not include a custom kernel. Your kernel remains the stock kernel, and thus goodies like insecure adbd (ro.secure=0), custom boot scripts, and custom boot animations are not supported.

Root – SuperSU
The root permission management app installed by CF-Root is SuperSU. This will allow your apps to gain root (superuser) access.

Recovery – ClockWorkMod (CWM)
A custom CWM 5.5 build is included in CF-Root, taken from this thread. This provides for the ability to install custom ROMs, and do nandroid (full device) backups and restores.

Util – CWM Manager
My management application for CWM is also installed, see the recovery thread linked above for further details. It allows you to command CWM (install a ROM, make/restore backups, etc) from normally booted Android.

Installation is incredibly simple. Simply use ODIN to flash the CF-Root package, and you’re good to go. Afterwards, you can use the newly updated TriangleAway, at least while it still works.

You can download the latest version of chainfire's easy method to unroot here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238

However one thing i did notice ..... the xray app reckons this method of rooting is susceptible to the mempodroid exploit
http://threatpost.com/en_us/blogs/new-x-ra...bilities-072012

QUOTE
Mempodroid
Inherited from the upstream Linux kernel, a vulnerability in the /proc/pid/mem interface allows for writing arbitrary memory in the address space of a setuid process. It's about as complicated as it sounds, but attackers are smart like that.

so in all honesty i am unsure what is the most secure way to root your s3, but this method by chainfire works real easy, and i haven't had any conflict when installing mods.

PS: i'm also using supersu pro to replace the default supersu because it's worth it nod.gif

For rom i am using wanamlite 2.0 (optional although i strongly recommend it)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705866

and siyah's kernel 1.4 (optional. not as important as wanamlite, but it did increase my benchmark ranking from #130 to 109 in terms of performance and tweaks)

No. Bcz wanam updates his Rom based on official updates. They will not have jelly bean unless Samsung came out with it.

Unless they going to adapt from cm10. Which is not really wanam's style.
*
you are correct. however i meant was, e.g. the UK stock firmware is using latest, whereas Malaysian isn't. and wanam as usual will always grab that latest stock and release it asap.

so we have a fully featured/tweaked firmware close to stock in less then a week after the latest stock s3 firmware is released nod.gif

the reason i didn't try jelly bean in roms such as cm10 is because they are hardly complete. no point when jelly bean is coming out not long from now sweat.gif

trust me it's very easy to pirate for android, but i won't elaborate how nod.gif so i am sure android will catch up in no time flat.

anyways here is a review of the much recommended 64GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Class 10 external sd for the Samsung Galaxy S3.
http://www.jayceooi.com/2012/07/07/64gb-sa...iew/#more-10626

i installed lots of apps, but i'm still at 39% storage space usage on my 16gb internal sd. So i'm not yet pressed to upgrade to include an external sd just yet sweat.gif

QUOTE
"With a microSD card slot allowing up to 64GB of expansion and a whopping 50GB of free cloud storage coming through Dropbox, those 16 and 32GB models seem way more than adequate."
http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/samsung...ibly-restricted

i did download torrent to my smartphone using ttorent pro, but i am being very conservative with this particular usage. i'm planning to setup remote downloading of transmission on my qnap. so my s3 would tell my qnap to download on the qnap, rather than on my phone. to view the file, i'd then just stream via either twonky dlna + upnpbubble or plexmediaserver + plex android nod.gif

QUOTE
'Seem' indeed. The trouble with the S3 is that while it *seems* to have a lot of expantion capabilities, there's actually VERY LIMITED expansion capabilities.

Photo's and music can be stored on user-mounted storage (SD card/Dropbox), but Apps can only be written to the internal 16/32/64 Gb. This may not seem like much of an issue, but out of the 16Gb, only about 11Gb is left for the user.

When you only have 11Gb of App-writtable storage, after downloading and installing a few games and some navigation software, you're 11Gb then turns into 0Gb and you're faced with having to delete stuff.

Not being able to write apps to user-mountable expantion storage is THE most major issue with an otherwise outstanding phone.

Many people over on xda-developers and the like have bought nice and fast 64Gb micro SD cards to boost their 16Gb S3's to 80Gb (plus Dropbox of 50Gb), but when you can only install apps on 11Gb of the 80Gb, it's a major flaw in the produce.

I hesitate to say this, but until this MAJOR issue is fixed, the S3 is merely a Samsung iPhone.

Chainfire has something to say on this: www dot chainfire dot

The Galaxy S3, and pretty much every other phone with internal flash + sd card treats the internal flash as primary storage and any additional SD cards as secondary storage, because unlike SD-only phones like the Desire the user is able to pull the card out at any time. So allowing the user to move app data to secondary storage would result in the phone becoming completely unusable in the event the user misplaces the SD card.

But I wouldn't say its impossible. You should be able to ln -s /Android /sdcard/Android. That would let you move apps to secondary storage. You'd just have to be watchful of the phone mounting the sd card to a different directory.

overall i think it's good. i even used 2 benchmark programs cf-bench & tuning and benchmark apk to confirm there was indeed a performance boost over the stock rom / kernel.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...e=search_result

supposedly it is a space saving version of the busy box app, and uses the latest app for busy box, and it deletes all your apps busy box, and instead uses this single busy box via symlink i believe.

anyone tried this app before and recommend it ?
