cf-root is tool to root, cwm is a recovery mode, different thing, no need to change anything, once you use cf-root, cwm is installed
*
well previously i rooted using
- recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.1.0-i9300 (SU and CWM manager were included inside this build)
- Odin_v3.04
- wanam 1.8 lite
- titanium backup

But this 2nd time through i used this
- triangle away 1.7.0
- Odin_v3.04
- wanam 1.9 lite
- CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4
- titanium backup

The difference i notice is .... CFM manager now doesn't give me that warning message about fewer features because of incompatibility for the build.

i am hoping to use titanium backup to recover my apps, so i will report later if i was successful sweat.gif

So all is working fine, and i don't have any modified counters because i used triangle away brows.gif

But it looks like Samsung made a mistake dumbing down the search of its international versions, or at least some of them. TechRadar reports that at least the UK Galaxy S3 version will get its full universal search back, and Samsung has already confirmed it:

However, a spokesperson for Samsung told us: “The most recent software upgrade for the Galaxy S III in the UK included the inadvertent removal of the universal search function. Samsung will provide the correct software upgrade within the next few days.”

Mods like wanam lite retain this search feature. So this decision has zero affect for me, until apple comes knocking at wanam developers door

I'm using wanamlite 2.0 Rom & siyah 1.4 kernel

My benchmark & tuning score is #109 when compared to all filter.

From using wanamlite stock kernel to using siyah, my ranking improved by 30 or so.

I think I have much better self control than you.My heavily modded S2 should last for some time.If Sammy release official Jelly Bean for S2 (which looks like done deal) I think I have no problem holding on till next next Nexus phone release.

I'm no camera enthusiast but I prefer camera sensor which is better than 5MP that Sammy put in Galaxy Nexus. If Google put together decent set of SOC,camera & microSD slot I'm all in for the next Nexus phone.

Main reason why I want Nexus phone is because proper continuous software support unlike crappy support what the majority of Android OEM providing.I know you can flash the phone with AOSP/AOKP roms to update the phone but it'll cripple some of the functions.Don't get me wrong,I still think group like CM is doing good thing but what they are doing is not the solution for the OEM's crappy software support.
SGS & Nexus S basically have similar hardware but Sammy said SGS cannot run ICS.But Nexus S is running Jelly Bean now.Sure Sammy did thinker with their version of Android but aside some reskinning I don't see much of the added functionality that requires a lot of resources.Too many BS coming out Sammy's PR.

I can go on & on on why I want continuous software support for all but then it'll be too many technical stuff. From what I found out from N900/N9 threads people don't seem to like discussing technical stuff here.

Too much out of topic rant whistling.gif

Personally I think the Samsung s3 is future proofed for firmware updates and software features.

Samsung made a huge profit from it, has a huge user base, a shitload of mod developers r working on supporting e.g. wanam, siyah and more.

The only thing it doesn't have is thunderbolt and wigig
Some models also don't have 4g, 1 vs 2 ram, quad vs dual core cpu.. 16 vs 32 v 64 GB storage....

It's not perfect but compared to all the other smartphones out there it comes out top in terms of performance, features, future proofed, and modability.

Hi,

Still a noob and had flash to WanamLite 2.0 now, I notice that the Omega ROM youtube apps has been hack for download. Where can I get the Youtube Hack so that I can flash to my existing WanamLite 2.0 ROM.

Google for "YouTube 720p mod android"

Uninstall your current YouTube. I used titanium backup to do this. Then reboot.

I then use cwm manager to install the apk.

Go to YouTube setting and enable auto 720p. Enjoy.

Guys...worth to get the 32gb version with few hundreds extra?
*
I got a lot of apps installed, but only using 29% for my 16gb model.

However I don't have many games, music and videos installed. Those can easily eat up storage space.

I'm however streaming my media from my qnap nas via wireless n. So for me 16GB is sufficient.

If it had 2gb ram that would be nice smile.gif

Sadly I paid the old price for the 16gb which was same for the 32gb..... 》_《

Current 16gbp price is 1.8k so that is roughly 400 myriad cheaper than 32gb model

Doubt it. Stockmod is untouched.
Wanam lite uses stock which I'm using.

I added siyah kernel to replace the stock but this of course is optional.

If you are wondering what u lose n gain check the kernel change log

I'm like so tempted to flash siyah. Since you sound like you've decided on siyah, what made you shift from Stockmod?
*
Benchmark & tuning from Google store can bench your smartphone.

I notice the top 10 ranked android devices were using siyah's kernel.

That's what made me use it.

It's easy to install too. Download siyah kernel. Reboot to recovery. Install the zip file. All done smile.gif

To undo, you can refresh wanam or stock Samsung s3 Rom.

I always backup to titanium app nbefore I do this just in case.

I was in dilemma whether to trade my 16gb+top up to get the 32gb. Still wondering whether i need such capacity since i can add in MicroSD.
*
For 16gb users we got a few options.

1. Use the micro sd slot to expand storage +16 or 32 or 64gb.

2. Plug in an external usb storage device. Some apk apps and kernel/Rom provide this feature.

3. Store and stream content using wireless N to a network attached storage (nas) device e.g Qnap, synology

*
Just refresh wanam again as usual. Then go to settings about device to confirm which kernel Is being used.

Ps: don't clear David cache before upgrading kernel, according to xda forum guide on how to change kernel.
