So, per topic,

All the while I'm playing on Windows with downloaded online copy, no DVD. The downloaded setup files all still intact.
Now I got a new MacBook, am wondering if it's possible to reuse the same D3 installer files so no need to re-download the whole 7GB again.

I figured since the DVD supports both Windows/Mac, and a DVD is about 8GB, it must be using mostly the same files.
Except don't know which files need to change. Anybody heard anything about this?

Anybody play using Mac/MacBook?

**Update after I got it working.

Well basically I already have the Windows installer files (the 8370 version).
What I did is kick off downloading the Mac version online. Once it created the folders and placeholder files, I stop the download, and replaced all those MPQ files with equivalent from windows folder. Then click Diablo 3 launcher, and it starts update the various patches (total about 300MB download), and then I can play D3 already. Damn nice the graphic thumbup.gif

Err... might be alot of files to be changed. All those files compiled with windows compilers won't run on Mac. Long story short, it might be easier to redownload unless you don't mind the effort of sniffing around and test file by file.

Well my hunch is the bulk of it are data files, not compiled binaries. That's how it looks to me in Windows anyway.

I still probably need the executable or binary (or whatever they call it in Mac OS), but that should be much smaller, at least not 7 GB. I don't have huge broadband quota, gonna take days to re-download the whole thing.

Anybody got the DVD version? Mind checking how big is the DVD (total file sizes/DVD total size)? As far as I know, the same DVD contains both Windows and Mac installer.

That means you have both copies. Possible to check if the files are the same? The major files i.e. those in GB size.
Not sure how difficult is it for you to do since I assume you have em in different OS's.
