I read some LYN member's siggy that goes something like:

You spend money that you don't have, buy something that you can't afford, to impress people that you don't like.

I guess many of us are like that, huh?
*
afterall, what's the point of having loads of moolah if you don't use to impress anyone, including yourself? laugh.gif makes us work for what we want.

You missed that part where it says spending money you don't have  thumbup.gif

Work hard and reward yourself with a nice ride. Not work hard for a nice ride so you can impress others.
*
honestly, what's the fun of driving an R8 or Aventador if no one looks at you when you steps down from your ride and enters the club? i'd rather get a kancil then laugh.gif

I totally agree bro!

Why drive a BMW when a Myvi can take u from point A to B as well.

Sure you might be less safe, might be slower, less comfortable, lose some face...

But heck... at the end of the day... with all your smart investment... when you are 80+... you can flaunt your wealth and enjoy life man!  thumbup.gif

my husband's boss, one of manager in Airasia, with income at rm20k per month still using his MYVI instead BMW/Merz...

Car is not an asset..it just a liability...
*
inbefore all my grandpapi earns 1 million a month but still using his old bicycle stories. liability or not, some people rather spend it on cars. when you have disposable income, whats an extra car to you?

agree... some ppl rather spend it on cars .. smile.gif

but spend wise.. when u have the ability ..
not for those whom nearly can survive.. but wan gaya dulu ....  doh.gif
*
yeah, hence the disposable income. some line of work needs 'gaya' or 'face' to get a better impression which is true. it's just that some people rush into decision too fast or going way off limits. i know a MLM friend who keeps boasting how well his career is. end up getting a second hand 320. was thinking of shooting him why buy a second hand 320 and not a new camry but i held back rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(barista @ Jul 27 2012, 10:54 AM)
Rich means no need to do anything also got money to spend for life. Driving a nice car does not make one rich. What a stupid idea to spend hundred thousands on car when that money can work to make more money.
*
dear philosopher. do tell me the amount of millions that you have in your bank right now. rich don't need to do anything? that's the biggest joke ive ever heard. looks like the only rich that you are looking at are 20 year old kids who drives his dad's ferrari.

But one can argue that owning a nice ride that impresses others makes one happy, and you can't put a price on happiness. To that I can only say, each to his own.
*
driving a nice car reflects what you have achieved and that makes you happy. of course, everyone has their ego to feed, just to the point of how much does the ego needs to be fed. if a young chap buys a civic with a rm1000 loan from his rm3000 loan, that's feeding way too much for his ego. if another chap gets a free civic from his dad, that's his luck. i don't see the point of butthurt in this case. all i can see these days are people with nice clothes and nice rides but can't afford a nice meal in the mall.
