In Medan, Indonesia, state of majourity chinese businessman,
You won't see flashy cars, and barely any Merc or BMWs. (There are few people though using Vellfires and Harriers)
I heard Jakarta you maybe able to find Ferraris and lamboughs, but not in Medan.
(Oh BTW, barely any Daihatsu Sirions (MYVI) there on the road.PROTON also cant be seen on the road, although they do have dealerships in Indo)

And in case some of you think Indonesia (and look down) is entirely made up of poor Indonesian maids ,labourers, beggars, think again.
There are also millionaires and billionaires hidden in Indonesia.
But they just don't want to show their wealth out in the public.
Why? If one were to read up the history (wikipedia) of Kerusuhan Mei 1998 and you've know what I mean. The chinese there learnt it the gruelsome past.

And also because in Indonesia, if you drive up a nice car, you're a potential target.
Ever heard of even side mirror of a Lexus Harrier being stolen while parked in Indonesia?
Yes I've heard of it too. Sounds silly but it had happened.

Back In Malaysia, no offense, its the culture and mentality thinking.
Car = Potrays wealth image to some.
But in Indonesia, the rich & powerful Indonesian people spend their money on rewarding themselves travelling overseas frequently and shop, dine & stay in 5 star luxury.
Wait until you see how they spend their money, your eyes will pop out.

If volvos, I like the 940s and S80

2nd hand value is cheap and affordable, and have some street credit.
But I heard spare parts is..... shocking.gif

learn from indon? u kidding me? ya, kerusuhan, so God exists, and wipe them out in one shot, remember tsunami? entire generation wiped out.

if u think owning a nice car is not encouraged, instead one should spend it on staying 5star hotel and buying expensive handbags or spend it on escorts? well, thats your money, but its FNF here.

if wanna talk about financial management, there is a section in lowyat, i'm sure u can learn a lot from there.

in FnF we talk cars, not how to save up and spend in dubai 5 star. thanks.

and i'm pissed when i see that example of indon.

Just sharing stories, not teaching others.
It saddens me to see such person who are obviously jealous of others.

But If you are so worked up about it,sorry can't help you either, thats your decision.
But keep that sarcasm and jealousy to yourself will you, for the sake of others.

Again, like some people here shared that some rather spend on a posh car, but still live in a apartment.
Or some have a Proton Wira but living in a 2 1/2 story house.

P.s - FYI I'm not an Indonesian BTW. I'm a Malaysian. smile.gif

I see some forumers are attacking my personal opinions, and this is unwanted
But first , I apologise first for some rudeness in some my context.

Some choose to flash as much wealth as they want, drive Lamborghini, to make others envious and be snobbish.
Some choose to be humble even though they have abundance of wealth.

If you want to drive a Ferrari just to pick up some chics at ZOUK to hopefully to bang them tonight, go ahead.
No one stops you. I repeat. No one stops you. You have the cash. Its your money. Not mine.

But if you just have a MYVI right now and still happily socialise with friends for mamak, then go ahead also.
It still makes you happy. I'm happy also too.

Nobody says you are not allowed Ferrari, Lamborghini.
I also want a Aston Martin if I could really afford one.
Everyone surely has their dream cars.

But if you cannot afford one now, be grateful for what car you have NOW. yes. Grateful.
Be it just a MYVI, Kancil, Saga BLM, etc. Because its happier to be grateful of what you own now.
Than being over envious of other people driving posh cars.
Life is meant to be happy. So what if you just have a MYVI.Its you yourself is happy driving it. Not for him/her driving the Ferrari.

If anyone still disagrees about whatever I share about my Indo story, and thinks they know better than me.
Thats your opinion. Sarcasm doesn't help either. Period. I am happy with my current lifestyle.
