just send my ipad to the service centre today due to my son drop my ipad yesterday and the glass of the screen broken. but it function well after that still can use and still can sense just only the side glass broken... as per the tele-conversation wih the dealer yesterday, he advice me that it cost arround RM300 if repair at outside, if send back to apple then replace with a new one it also cost arround RM300 but take time arround 2 weeks. but when i send to the dealer today, he advice me that it cost more than thousand..... anyone had this experiance before can advice me what to do? thank you....

There was a discussion on this before in the iPad subforum. Are you sure it is RM300 by Apple ? Because i have a friend who went to Apple because of the dent only and Apple told him he need to pay RM 1000+ to replace it.

I don't think APple will repair the glass of it only, am i right ? They will instead change the whole unit for you and ask you to pay for Out of Warranty Exchange.

ya, they want me to change for whole unit.... its only 2 months old.... do u know normally it cost how much? rm1000++??? only the screen glass.... and its only 2 months.... i m so sad...

Yea, from what i have been told, it is RM1k plus for out of warranty exchange. They will not exchange a free refurbished unit for you if you drop it and break the glass.

Maybe you can try some third party ? They will replace for the price around RM 300 - 400 but i am not very sure whether it is ori or not

Yep. Mym mum's ipad had the same problem. Apple is willing to replace it with a new one costing around $1300. Might as well send it to fix outside. Too bad the fix will cost you $300 and void your warranty for good.

Sad to hear that, best is to find third party to fix it, or buy a new one, or if still can use then use it

Try google for "iMalaysian" which have a few branches in Malaysia now, they are repairing idevices includes broken screen as well. Not sure they are using original parts but you can call and ask them for more information.

jus repair outside it cost around RM 500 + oni and its original or OEM parts... dun worry... and it wont void your warrenty even its replace... apple cant identify it...just make sure your casing is not dented or scratch..... some of my customers even after change the display screen and send for warrenty for other issue... they get another replacement unit from apple...

Changed mine for 300. The alumnium dent is pretty bad so i just cover it with case that covers the black border.
