Hi guys ... I juz came back from 1U credit card centre to ask this question BUT I hope forummers please don't mind to reconfirm this for me because few months back I got into alot of trouble when taking advance cash (taking cash out from credit card)
So a question to those that have owe money before with this card BUT managed to pay minimum balance every month.
The rate is 8.88% p.a which means per month it will be 8.88% / 12 = 0.74% (I also understand this is just roughly as the exact amount will be computerized but it shouldn't differ much)
My question is, let say my limit is 20k and I owe MAXIMUM amount EACH MONTH .. and I only pay minimum balance each month .. the only "charge" will be :
0.74% * 20,000 = RM 148 ???
It really sounds too good to be true to me. I keep owing Maybank 20k but I only pay RM 148 extra (+ minimum balance) every month? Someone please tell me I'm wrong.
p/s: Yes I understand that advance cash will be a different calculation all together (Interest counted daily and all - that's where I got into trouble. But now my question is just for normal usage but owing 20k every month.
Firstly, you are
NOT SUITABLE to use Credit Card.
Secondly, you are so naive that you can owe the bank RM20k and pay RM148 monthly.
Third, the 8.88% p.a. interest will go back to 18% p.a. if you don't settle the bill
Fourth, the interest effect will be COMPOUNDING.
Eg.
Interest rate : 18%
Outstanding Amount : RM10,000
Pay only minimum 5% every month
Repayment period : 7 years 5 months
Total Interest : RM4055
