Cosmetics bought from the store always seemed to only do harm by clogging the pores, drying the skin and making my face red like never before. Unfortunately natural options weren't that much better. I've tried every oil you can imagine starting from olive oil and ending with the more exotic Argan and rosehip oil. The latter two were the only ones that my skin agreed with but I didn't find them very moisturising. In fact my friend started to use rosehip oil and I've seen her wrinkles get noticeably worse :-/ Since I had the same experience I decided to only use it on scars, which it's good at fading. But as I was eating my avocados I decided to google avocado oil and see if people have used it on their faces. Turned out a lot of people had used it so I decided to give natural options one more chance. I'm glad I did. This is the only thing that has ever moisturised my dry skin. It's a miracle for me! No matter what I have used, they either sit on top of the skin causing pimples or are so light that they do absolutely nothing. My skin has always suffered from dryness and I got those dry lines all over my eyes although I'm only 27yo and a male. None of my friends have those kind of lines at this age. For the first time my skin is moisturised.. I use this at night and wake up with a soothed skin. I use it on my lips aswell and feel like Lana Del Rey when I wake up. My lips are that plump! And what's more bizarre is that this works like magic for under eye area. I didn't know it was even possible for eye wrinkles to go away. The lines are still there when I look really closely but this oil has made them less deep. All in all I'm extremely happy with avocado oil. So happy that I was thinking about not writing this review since I want to keep it as my beauty secret haha! Several web pages cite studies about avocado oil increasing the amount of collagen in skin etc. Don't know about that since I feel like there are ridiculous amounts of hype around oils that do no good (i.e. Coconut oil). But it is an excellent moisturiser for dry skin and it's enough for me. No clogged pores even, just extremely soft and supple skin. I've even started to use it as a body lotion. It's funny really, I've tried every exotic little oil yet the answer was my favourite fruit I eat almost every day. I guess it's all about trial and error with natural oils. A lot of people here seem to love jojoba, some argan and some rosehip even. I thought people were raving about oils just for the sake of it but avocados made me a convert. I use this primarily as a moisturizer on damp skin. I spread a couple of drops over my face to seal in the moisture and I'm done. It soaks in very well. But, think about it, our own body produces oil. The scalp produces oil, the skin produces oil... Oil produced by the body is called sebum. When there is imbalance within our body due to diet/ lifestyle/ environmental factors/ aging, it shows on our scalp, and our skin. Too much or too little oil can be produced by our bodies which results in oily / dry skin respectively. Such conditions lead to even more undesirable issues like pimples, acne, fine lines, wrinkles, cellulite, and even dark eye circles. There are many ways to address these issues. Among them is to use vegetable/fruit/flower oils. Vegetable/fruit/flower oils that are used to dilute essential oils which are then used in aromatherapy or / and massages. They do not have a concentrated aroma, unlike essential oils, but some carrier oils retain their original aroma, eg Argan oil has a nutty smell, Olive oil has, well olive smell to it. Most of these oils can be used as it is ( ie. no need to be diluted) , unlike essential oils. However, pls note SOME vege/fruit oils NEED to be diluted due to its concentration, which is due to its extraction method. Pls note : when I write oil in this post, I am referring to the vegetable/ fruit oil. Not essential oil. I will refer to essential oils as essential oils =) They are 2 very different products. The oils I am referring to include : olive oil, almond oil, hazelnut oil, black seed oil, walnut oil, evening primrose oil, avocado oil, blueberry oil, coconut oil, carrot seed oil, neem seed oil and many many more. Each oil has its own benefits and are suited to ppl with different skin types or living in different climates. The different skin types are : balance, dry/dehydrated/ with fine lines, oily/blemished prone, mature, eczema, rosacea. Oils should be used as unprocessed as possible. ( ie. : unrefined) The 2 main way to produce carrier oils are via cold-pressed or maceration. These are considered unrefined and therefore most suited to body/ face use. These oils contain vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids. They greatly improve texture, elasticity and skin condition when used properly. Most people mistakenly think that these oils are of no benefits which is incorrect. Some of the benefits of these oils may overlap, for example, almond oil and olive oil can BOTH soften and soothen the skin. And some oils are suited to all skin types. It is up to your individual decision / liking to choose which oil to use AND of course, dependent on your skin type. If you are looking for an oil to moisturize your skin, to address fine lines, to prevent wrinkles, to add shine/gloss to healthy hair, treat crack heels, or lessen the effects of ezcema then feel free to look below. And remember, as with all things natural, a little goes a long way. There is no need to use too much at one time because it will NOT get absorbed which is a waste of the fruit/vege and your $$. A few drops each time is adequate, generally. I am a frequent user of beauty oils. My night ritual consist of oils + toner/hydrosol only. In the day, i use the usual gel/cream. I prefer to use oils at night because my creams were not moisturizing enough and not nourishing enough for my thin and combination skin in an air conditioned room. And if I were to switch to richer/more creamy creams/gels, my skin would break out !!! So that was my dilemma. After reading different articles promoting different brands of oils, I decided to try oils on my face and I have no looked back since... =) They make my skin soft, and I noticed my pimples would shrink the next morning. My face no longer feels tight after just 1 washing. But price was also my concern. I used to buy from oils from departmental stores and organic specialty stores in and out of Malaysia. They would cost anywhere between RM 70-RM 300 for 30ml-50ml. After I discovered I can get the SAME QUALITY oils at a fraction of the price, I was a convert ! It was better value for money and the effect was the same! So there is my story. hope u enjoyed it. I now extend the benefit I gained to u guys ! Try it and you will be amazed ! BTW I can custom blend an oil to suite your skin type. Each and everyone's skin is different as we have different genetics/lifestyle/sensitivities. You can request for sample sizes with different oil blends to try it out. My blends are made up of 2 or more kinds of oils. I blend OILS ONLY. I DO NOT add preservatives or any other chemicals. There is NO NEED to add anything else. ONLY OILS OILS OILS.
