I got 1 question for VW Golf owner.

did anyone have a 2nd thought of having VW Jetta instead Golf?

no offense, because both same engine and also 1k extra you can get the bigger car? although Jetta look abit boring. Still I found it quite a bargain.

For me golf looks more sporty n jetta looks more like a family car.

Anyway, i'm planning to do piping n valve on my golf gti after raya to make the car sounds more sporty. This will definitely void the warranty is it? And will it by any chance have any other effects on my car other than changing the sound?

For me no cos it is pure joy to drive. But i have not tested jetta.

I understand it will be the dilemma for it to be a family cos the boot space will be pain in the ass.

Jetta is abit of a dilemma, bcos of its looks which is pretty subjective.. hav to say certain angle looks nice, certain angle looks weird.. but the boot space is really impressive..

A fren who owns a golf started commenting on the boot space.. bcos Golf is the main car for his family, thus he is starting to feel the lack of space.. cant even put in his golfclub unless fold down the rear seats..

Another fren just got "expecting" and forgo her idea of getting the Golf and got a Passat instead..

IMHO, hatch mostly serve as 2nd car (for me la) as it is better to hav a sedan in a family...
(Unless certain hatch has impressive boot space like Pug 308 which has > 400 liter of boot space)

**ok, i know its subjective, some ppl got the Golf as the main car in the family, but its just purely my view... cheers... icon_rolleyes.gif

yeah, all the reason Jetta was more like to all side advantages. you all get what I mean but just curious the reason 'why golf over jetta?' laugh.gif you know, both were VW and same engine, also the price are ALMOST same just little 1k over.
Thanks you for the 3 feedbacks.

VW Golf TSI from its origin manufacturer plant i.e. Wolfsburg, Germany;
VW Jetta TSI assembled in South Africa.

It's depends on one's preference though.

Up down, left, right haha. I just love watching it work. Same on the c-class, saw my neighbour's hehe. I think it's an auto test for the light bending system, no harm. Just love watching it move ;p

Well, if you ask me, I'm in my early 20's and I don't want an uncle looking car. I always wanted a car with bi-xenons and DRL over the boring usual yellow headlamps. (yes I know you can modify Jetta but I don't wanna do that)

Although they both have the same engine, torque power output blablabla, the jetta is bigger, heavier and less aerodynamic. (plus to me it looks a bit like persona lol) So don't you think the golf will be a better choice if you're looking for speed and handling? Just like the roc and golf. Same engine power etcetcetc but the roc handles so much better if you corner on high speeds (test drive for yourself) This is due to the more aerodynamic shape of the roc thus producing lesser drag.

As for cabin and boot size, for now it's only my girlfriend and I. So for 2 people going on short trips, the golf is more than enough. Of course if you're starting a family soon or already married with kids I'd suggest something like a camry with more space for family.

Ultimately, it all boils down to your PERSONAL preference. I've admired the golf since the mk5 came out, and since it's usually just the 2 of us; I'm happy with my choice! thumbup.gif

The only difference with Golf-Jetta and Golf-Roc is that Golf-Jetta is 1k price gap while Golf-Roc is 35k price gap.

now golf come with price tag of RM156k with sound & light package.
RM148,888 no longer available from any VW Malaysia, so Golf is more expensive than Jetta.

Even though the Jetta has a bigger boot, the Golf is still pretty practical. The folding rear seats means that you have lots of loading options. I am not sure if the Jetta has that. I have been surprised many times by how much the Golf can fit every time I do a big Ikea run!

Interior wise, both cars are the same. So.. in terms of legroom and space for the family, then it should not matter either way.

I personally like hatch-backs, so it will be Golf everytime..

The reason why the Roc handles better is less because of aero and more because the Roc has a slightly wider track than the Golf. smile.gif

Not sure the purpose. Syiok sendiri ? tongue.gif Same like the needle-sweep done at cluster instrument cool2.gif
But at least I know the light-bending motor is still in working condition laugh.gif

I did, when I get the Golf (with light & sound + rebates), the price is similiar like Jetta 149k +/-

One reason is below tongue.gif

Other reasons are:
1) I don't need such a big car for now, nor a sedan.
Otherwise, I'll go for the family Toyota Altis/Camry for similiar price range or lower.

2) At this stage, if I don't drive Golf, most probably I won't drive one in future when the family grows and I get older. At that time, will settle for an uncle's Camry/Altis or MPV and drive slowly. Or a Jetta/Passat sweat.gif

Recent, just bought some stuff at Ikea. About 180cm length. Load up about 5x of it until near roof. Collapse rear seats. Front passenger seat cannot fold down completely ohmy.gif Anyone knows how ?
Lucky still can fit it on the middle armrest.
No problem what ? Going to buy 3x more in coming weeks.
