There's nothing wrong with your iPad, just the FB app decrease the preview quality of the photo that we posted.

other than FB has this bad photo quality issue, the FB UI seems lagging, hiccup here and there. So most of the times,I would go for the butter smooth Flipboard just for facebook status browsing purpose.

FB decrease the quality. =) I hate Facebook for iPad though, wonder why they still don't update the software, at least for Timeline view. lol

Frankly not even the iPad FB decrease the photo quality, try the iPad native browser-Safari. If you opt for better photo quality, try Flipboard as mentioned by "walkmanphone".

I'm using ipad3 fb app & my pad+ the pictures looks fine and detail enough to me to be compare with desktop. Although it suffers some lag-ness when scrolling other than that is fine.

I am sure that those photo I uploaded was in Hi-Res cause the Hi-Res Option have been ticked. When using a desktop Mac or PC to view those photo, it's obviously clear and sharp but when viewing them with the official FB App is obviously decrease the clarity of the photo. Never try downloading from the FB App but I was just refer to the viewing problem.

For fast and efficient viewing, FB app decreased the image quality to be downloaded to the ipad and be viewed to you.
By the way, FB for iPad app is suck, it wasn't rate high due to its lagness and nonfluidity scrolling process

Try view at Safari and desktop mode, should give you the full size. Mobile app is not good because the photos are resized and optimize for mobile viewing.
