I need to know what type of adaptor, fan, etc...

With adaptor can archieve 12v for higher fan speed.
With usb only 5v which result in slower speed. Am I right?
My friend said using adaptor waste of electricity.

How to modify? Cut the head and join with what? Need to careful with this kind of thing. Beginner here. Wanna buy cooler but no money. See can DIY a cooler or not using old stuff. Also got fans from old PSU.

here are the details on my adapter...
INPUT: 240V AC 50Hz 38mA
OUTPUT: 9V AC 600mA
from old Aztech modem.
Can use?

 

Change to:
