just want to share a stupid story here.

my fren is using a table fan to blow and cool the lappy + him + external hdd together at one shot..
and overall is all 3 'items' (including him) are very cool, and when i touched the lappy and external hdd, it doesnt feel hot at all..

so isnt that what we call efficient and effective? icon_idea.gif tongue.gif

Having some fun with USB... just to test the whole concept whether airflow under the lappy really works or not....

Solder on some wires

That's what I've been telling u dude. My Coolermaster Coolpad really helps. My Ferrari laptop is like a volcano. The Coolpad reduces the HDD temps which is hot as hell.

It's sure hell's isn't efficient. That blower's really blowin a serious amount of air underneath that thing and the temp reduction not that much also.

Besides...it's mainly cooling plastic.

laugh.gif As long as it cools the HDD which is right under the left palm. So hot man the left palm area without the Coolpad.

The heat of plastic is transfered from HD mah you cool the plastic = cool the HD.I wonder if i can cool the HD directly will be wonderfull (no need through the middle man= plastic) smile.gif smile.gif.

Since I have nbtd... I left my lappy downloading stuff since this morning with the blower on....

Look at the temps.. especially the HDD temps....28C is better than desktop level. Pity the blower sound like a tornado though... tongue.gif

In the next display of nbtd retarded-ness.... me gonna test the "turbo charge the exhaust" fan style of lappy cooling.

The ingredient:

Build a cardboard box... and double tape in the blower

user posted image

Assembled. See that small hole? that goes to the exhaust fan

user posted image

Double taped to the exhaust duct... after taking this pic... ALOT more tape are added to ensure efficiency

Now just gotta wait a few minutes for the result

It's just a 5V blower I had lying around. I think it's from an old P4 notebook or something.

Basically these days, notebook coolers have 3 types right?

- Standard passive stand
- Stand with fans
- That aerocool thing that clips to exhaust that some says works and some say is a waste of money.

Just testing which 3 method is more geng... not for permanent use wan. Maybe will come out with something later to use with 24/7 downloading. Something to cool down everything inside including the HDD.
