I quite recently received a call from Maxis staff about a survey. They were doing one about offering broadband services in our area (BU11 and BU12) It lasted about 15 minutes.. my ear was sweating shocking.gif I still couldn't believe it though, they asked questions like "How likely will you subscribe to this?" and "What kind of internet access do you have at your home?"

Did anyone else receive a call from them? I want to know the progress of this project... They said they might start their services within 6 months or so..

Any ideas, guys? sweat.gif

I believe the max they were offering was 1Mbps... They're pricing is quite similar to Streamyx.. more expensive to rent modem, cheaper if you just buy the modem (long-term).. I think it was RM80 a month for 512Kb/s, but it's wired and hopefully it'll be better than my webbit if I can get my hands on it o.o

For a guy like me who only has Maxis fixed line in the house, this is indeed good news. I would promptly drop Jaring Wireless if there is a fixed line broadband solution in my area.

I don't think they are going to push the service to the market. They are right now gearing up 3G service and it will take some time to cover the whole country. Maybe they will offer u some datacards to surf the internet using 3G....

from that i heard, this Maxis broadband is only applicable to certain condo. or housing area smile.gif (area-based network) The units at the same condo. cannot apply for other services, only maxis. And the charges are higher than Streamyx smile.gif

Leto Kynes...are you staying in Condo. ?

If I'm not wrong, this is only for Maxis line.

Didn't ask them, but if they ever release it, I'm probably dropping my Webbit.

I'm guessing that for now, they will just open up in BU11 and BU12. Perhaps they have heard our cries for help biggrin.gif

They called my housephone, around 7:15pm...
They asked for my dad but he wasn't around, so I had to answer.

I am told that the only fixed line is from your PC to the rooftop, wher maxis installs a wireless unit. Then its 3G to maxis center/network. My experience with maxis GPRS sucks. They give priority to voice calls, when there are too many voice calls they drop your GPRS line and same with 3G. If you were d/loading some 30mb drivers, etc you have to d/.load again,...and again or find a real quiet time when no one uses h/.phone then you get good response/speed.

RM80 for 512mb is EXPENSIVE.

I hope it's not like how you said it is.. =/

Well anyways, if it's wired and better than my Webbit, I'd jump at the opportunity anytime.

recently, tmnet finaly open its network to others isp,why not maxis grab this chance?

as a telco, they have better position on dsl than jaring if they want.

if just compare package offered,i think maxis 3g offer is better than maxis wireless (coverage, convenient, content),maybe things will be diferent if the wireless broadband is wimax...

I'd actually pay more for wired now that I know how unreliable wireless is x_x
