QUOTE(sanadi @ Aug 1 2012, 12:46 PM)
When you leave your engine off, did you press the brake pedal. The soft pedal is due to vacuum boost. Cars should have enough vacuum for two pedal application (stepping on the pedal) with engine off. If you leave overnight and the pedal is hard in the morning even though the pedal was never touched then you might have a vacuum leak somewhere.

But do not worry yet, check whether this happens everyday. If it no longer happens then some family members may have went inside your car to test a few things. You did say you just received your car, maybe they were curious.

Went to my 1000 km service this afternoon. SC said my brake behaves normally, European cars also have similar habit (brake pedal is hard to press when starting the engine in the morning). No vacuum leak, he said. I never drove Merc or BMW, so I don't know whether he was lying or being honest to me.

Driver's side armrest is little bit jerking when the window goes up. No solution for this problem. "Tunggu arahan HQ, setakat ni ada 2 Preve kes macam ni" he said.

Alignment can't be done by SC, no machine. Need to go to COSE. If I go to any car workshop for alignment, will it void my warranty? COSE ramai orang maaa.

ECU remapped. My car feels little bit more responsive now. SC suggested semi-syn (Syntium 800), then change to fully syn after 10,000 km.

SC: Pusat Servis Auto Sinaran (Proton authorized SC), opposite JUSCO Taman Equine. No appointment needed. They charged me RM 124 for new oil, gasket, filter. Labour fee is FOC.

Note: so far I have tried Shell, Caltex, Petronas, Esso for my new baby. Esso is the best (FC is good, speed pick-up also good). Petronas gave good speed pick-up but FC is bad. Shell gave better FC than Petronas. Caltex sucks. Will try BHP next week.

Definately NOT normal. I think you need to tell them this happen only overnight. But then again they may ask you to leave your car a few days for them to test.

My home has Accord iVTEC, Honda City, Proton Preve and Kancil. I have even tried my friends E240 Merc (UK Spec though). All still have soft pedal in the morning. BTW how hard is your pedal after overnight? If hard as in "you stand on the pedal and it barely moves", that is hard.

Check this, start you engine, press and release your brake pedal. Turn off you engine. Press and release your brake pedal. You can do this 2 times (press-release, press-release) then your brake is still OK.

Hmmm, I can't live without my car. Bike to work is not an option.

When I press the brake pedal, it moves little bit, enough to change amber light to green in the start button, after engine started then I can press the pedal completely down with less effort.

SC did what you suggested. Off the engine, press and release the brake pedal 2-3 times, then it becomes hard.

Is the pedal hardness in the morning the same after you pres-release more than 3 times? If softer then no problem.

Edit: I just read your whole post, I think your brake is fine.

My experience confirms yours (except I haven't tried BHP). So, can we make an unofficial conclusion that Esso is the best petrol for Preve? I'm not talking about RON97, that needs another survey.
