Hey guys, just a quick question to anyone who has encountered this... well, don't know if it's an issue or not yet.

The POTS light on my BTU (the white Alcatel model) just lit up for no apparent reason. Now I know when you pick up the phone, the POTS light will be lit up, but my phone is NOT connected to my BTU, not a single phone is.

So it's very weird that it is lighting up now.
Only thing connected to the BTU is my router.

Never happened before until 10 minutes ago. My connection even went down all of a sudden for no apparent reason.

On Unifi BIZ btw. Have already restarted the BTU and router a couple of times as well.
Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.
*
Should be the new firmware update...
POTS light go ON = connected to VOIP account.
POTS light BLINKING = using phone line.
..my BTU is the same, nothing to worry about smile.gif

you can call TM and they will give you the password. Make sure the person who calls is the registered owner as there is a verification process
*
Thanks. Did that and finally now i can have peace with my own custom router which gives me the stable speed... biggrin.gif

if you have 2 different accounts for BIZ and VIP .. theoretically you can share the same uplink to perform the authentication.
*
Have you or anyone tried it already? Because the new TM firmware of the HG655a has some sort or Warning on the login page about TM T&C violation if you change any setting or so they come after you bla bla bla... but that's not what i'm afraid of, I afraid if they have any spy system to track if we login to the HG655a or change the settings... sweat.gif

So I manage to add the port mapping to LAN Port 2 of PPPOE for the HG655a and tried to connect 2 routers with different unifi accounts and it was successful but one big problem they both seems to be sharing the same speed of 5mbps... i did couple of speedtest together at the same time on both line and the result was around 2-3mbps for both router during the same time...
so maybe they have limited the speed on the VLAN ID to the subscription speed but the VDSL status shows the attainable rate to be around 70Mbps+++

BTW: this is the warning i was talking about:

My bet is VDSL port is assigned with 5M speed profile for HSI regardless the attainable rate are much higher
*
But then what abput the hypptv's dedicated 8mbps line for HD quality, also set to 5Mbps? hmm.gif

Hypptv running on different VLAN which is with different speed profile

If you see your modem sync at 35Mbps Downstream /25 Mbps Upstream

Hypptv is 10Mbps from 35 biggrin.gif
You can check by installing PRTG and set SNMP at your router and you can see total bandwidth used for each vlan biggrin.gif

Here one of the screenshot I've made to test HyppTV channel bandwidth, you can see the increase of bandwidth its due to changing from SD channel (Around 3Mbps) to HD channel biggrin.gif

I have a question to ask;

Currently I'm using Streamyx 4mbps with monthly charge
of RM140.

Thinking to upgrade to UniFi VIP 5 with RM149 monthly.

That's just RM9 with +1mbps in speed.

So my question is, is it possible to transfer my number
that I'm using right now from streamyx to unifi?
Or must I apply for new tel no?

Thank You.
*
I read somewhere that you can keep it as secondary but i'm not sure for free or you need to pay extra monthly charges.

QUOTE(wai2kit @ Jan 6 2013, 11:23 AM)
Is it possible to ask a TM Unifi technician to see if there's any extra charge incurred that will happen during installation before asking them to install? ( eg.the wire is longer than 15m..)
*
Usually they will charge any extra charge for the cables in the Bill but the contractor will give you a story about if you buy from them directly they will give you discount bla bla bla...

The default username/password combinations for TMnet DIR-615 routers between firmware versions 7.01 to 7.05b are :

Username : admin
Password : <blank>

Username : admin
Password : telekom

However, there is also a secondary account which must have its password changed in order to fully secure your network :

Username : operator
Password : telekom

Username : operator
Password : h566UniFi

Username : operator
Password : <your Unifi username in reverse order>

Firmware 7.12 and above :

Username : Management
Password : TestingR2

Just call unifi support center and tell them you want to unsubscribe hypptv channel.

Hi guys.
Anyone came to this experience before where unifi technicians came to your house. Check your connection and say that the router and black box is over heating. Causing the phone to have a not smooth conversation.  Plus the speed will never achieve more than 60%.
After advising the fella ask me to buy a cooling fan. But this problem started since the first day of installation.  Duh..
*
Your "Black Box" (BTU) you referring too is it the VDSL or Fiber Optic one?

My VDSL Modem also heats up after 3mins with internet and VOIP running and 5mins in idle mode... you can really fry an egg on it that's why i decide to use an extra PC fan + DC adapter and fix it to my VDSL modem and now it's cold as ice:

lol....noisy or not?
*
Not really, almost the same as your average pc fan running but softer... if you want more quite one then you can use a slower RPM one or expensive branded fan which is more quite. to make the casing for it you can use box cardboard or the white styrofoam.
