That is not POTS, but its VoIP.
*
True..its VoIP. But its not direct VoIP where the phone can connect by itself.

My FTTH modem is still putting out POTS signal.
I wired it to my existing analog phone line and I cut off the TM fixed line at the back of my house. All the fixed line phones including my fax machine connected to existing wiring works. Its useful for sending fax since TM fixed lines are free.

Dear all Unifi expert,

Finally, I have just installed Unifi.

However, I want to connect another telephone line to the Unifi but it will be in another room.

From what I see on the current connection, my telephone line is connected to the VoIP port on the VDSL modem.

Can I connect another modem or another VDSL modem in the other room to this current TM given VDSL modem model ZTE ZXDSL931DII in the Living Hall so that I can connect another telephone to the VoIP port in the other mentioned above modem or another VDSL modem in the other room so that I can use normal telephone to make free calls???

By the way, I plan to connect both modem in different room using HomePlug. Which HomePlug in the market is the BEST?

Is there any modem available in the market with VoIP port and LAN port in a same device?

Can I setup like the one below or any recommendation?

Looking forward to your reply.

Thanks.

You could try to plug in an old analog phone and see if you could get that tone when you lift up the handset. Try dialing your number. If it works. Just run standard analog telephone cables from your VDSL to your other phones.

So far my FTTH modem works. I have several splitters on the wiring and running a fax machine, old fixed line phone and that given DECT phone.

No free promo ah? for the VOD perhaps yeah me cheapskate

And I noticed the D-Link DIR-615 and the BTU is extremely hot, later those burned out how?
*
I thought got free all channels for 30 days except VOD. I was enjoying BBC programs for the first month. I'm cheapskate too. After that, I rather stream from BBC site than watching on Hypp.

DIR is your property, you can use something to cool it...
But mine doesn't seem to get really hot. Or maybe its just warm. So crashes or hang so far.

BTU is TM property, if it burnt out. You can call them in. Lifetime warranty. That's what my TM tech told me. Everything comes out from that BTU. So if it fails, the customer cannot use anything at all. That's why under warranty from TM.

My FTTH modem seems rather warm as well. You can put a USB laptop cooler on it and draw power from the DIR usb port. It gathers dust rather quickly as well. So far I just placed it on a well ventilated spot on my table, so far so good. I noticed my Huawei HyppTV runs lot warmer than the modem. Even if its in standby mode. I turn it off when not in use.

Your homeplug should be connected to dir-615
Your second phone also cannot. Just get a twin cordless phone set.
*
jovial is correct. your first connection out to homeplug1 should be from dlink and not the btu. while regarding the second phone setup, by my "logic" understanding/guessing (no any knowledge prove) I don't think dlink will carry the voip signal, because signal already been split by at the point of btu, and phone coming out from there only, so is a no..

it still can be done by the setup you propose, but is a different thing already, a standalone internet phone (not the same number from unifi).

use the line2 socket from the btu (can support fax), or get a twin cordless phone like jovial suggested.

[maybe] the phone signal can be redirect out through another lan port of the btu? smile.gif

9.x is excellent enough for your package. In fact, features in router consumes a little bandwidth. For instance, you will notice higher bandwidth without security set; WPA-TKIP consumes more than WPA-AES; and more...

@victorwan

In that configuration, your homeplug will not work as only port 1 on the ZXDSL BTU will be configured for VLAN 500 (HSI) + 600 (IPTV) trunk. You need to connect the homeplug to one of the LAN ports on the DIR-615.

If you want to use your Unifi VOIP line all over your network, you need to access the ZXDSL web configuration, copy the SIP proxy + user + password details and trunk VLAN 400 out into port 2/3/4 of the BTU or into port 1 (facing the router). If you go with port 1, your router needs to forward VLAN 400 tagged into your home network at which point you can connect a VLAN compatible SIP phone or ATA. You would probably also need to switch to a different router as this trunking configuration isn't really possible with the DIR-615. Grab an IP via DHCP on VLAN 400 and send a SIP register, you're good to go.

It would be easier to install an analog splitter from the RJ11 port on the ZXDSL or pick up a cordless phone rather than attempt to run your own VLAN trunked network behind the DIR-615 IMO.

Wah......thank you all for all your replies.

However, all mentioned here are too technical for me.

Need to read a few times to understand it.

Which Homeplug selling here is the best? Aztech ?
