super details... really thanks a lot... by the way, if i'm in accessories mode, can i just start the engine straight away by pressing brake+start button?  hmm.gif
*
When I first collected my car last month. My SA advice me few steps to start my HCH (see below). According to her this is recommended by Honda Malaysia.

1. Press Start button once without stepping on the brake. I believe this is to turn on the accessories. You will see all the lights on your display.

2. Wait for 1 - 2 seconds until you see few accessories lights dim down on display.

3. Press start button and step on the brake to start engine.

According to my SA, if we do this it can last longer. But then, I didn't understand what she meant.

This may be a sensible method...because in conventional cars, I usually turn ignition key from OFF to Accessory Mode (I), wait 2~5 seconds, turn to (II)+(III) to start the car.
I find the 2~5 seconds wait allows time for the car to sort out the system+engine startup, (maybe for some capacitors to juice up), the start up is smooth and easy if I waited 2~5 seconds. In contrast, if I just turn my key from OFF to (III) right away, 80% of the time my Honda City iDSI engine would not start. It will only start after I re-do it (my key is at (II) after the failed-start).

Thanks for sharing the tip.

Dear HCH friends and sifus,

What do you think of the HCH's Heat Absorbing Glass windows? I would like to hear from those that did not put any tint film on their Civic Hybrid 2013 windows. Have you tested by putting your arm under the windows on a hot sunny day?

I am curious because my HCH was delivered with tint (by Kah Motor, I paid for the add-on). Under the sunny hot day, when I put my arm under windows (i tried front and side windows) I almost couldn't feel any heat eventhough the glass itself was hot. But since my car is already tinted, I wouldn't know whether the Heat Absorbing Glass or the tint that does the good job at blocking heat. I would love to hear from you guys.

Another thing is whenever I press the brake, 80% of the time, I will hear some sort of aircon sound or refrigerator sound. Is this normal for HCH?

Thanks!
*
For the braking thing....YES, you will usually hear a light buzzing sound "zzzzzz......." when brake.
Not sure, but some say it is the charging of our lithium battery.

I thought it should be press twice....then wait all sounds stop then press third with brake pressed?

Katmai81 is correct. 2 presses to get to accessories mode.

If not mistaken, the Civic's six-speaker audio system produced good sound with tight bass despite its lack of a subwoofer. Sound quality was definitely better than in other vehicles tested in the Civic's class smile.gif

The car audio is a rather subjective matter. what's good for my ear may not be good for you. So far, I am very happy with the stock Civic Hybrid 2013's audio system. I put the BASS and TREBLE to the max and sounds are very nice and not hurting my ear.

It plays my MP3/WMA files on 64GB USB as well as via bluetooth to my Galaxy Note 2. One thing I noticed is it only reads properly those USB pendrive with metal connector shield...not those slim plastic kind without metal connector grounding shield. This is the model I use:

My HCH tyre is Dunlop SP Sport 300 195/65/R15. Made in Japan.

I find it rather noisy compared to those cheap Yokohama A-Drive A01 when driving on most main road in Penang island. The dunlop are only quiet when driven on some new and smooth road surface.

NVH of Civic is good enough but the tyre noise spoil the NVH. Any good silent tyres (for rough malaysian roads) you can recommend to me?

perhaps, petrol pump is not a major issue for me...
but i feel... BHP is the best for HCH imo...
at least not so much jerking... i still need time to familiar with the CVT gear hunting in low speed sad.gif
*
Dear bro geek8585, Are you still using BHP or found another petrol that is better? So far I use Shell RON95 and i could feel the CVT has very tiny jerking which I don't like. My previous 10yr old Honda City iDSI with CVT didn't have any jerking at all and it also uses Shell petrol with Shell Semi-syn engine oil.

So I hope to find a petrol that suits the Honda's mineral oil (idemitsu, i think). Which Honda engine oil are you using?

yes, i have jerking with Shell 95 as well... FYI, i am at my first 1k with my HCH... already clock 960km ad, maybe after cny will go for service flex.gif

my friend said BHP 95 is the best for minimise the jerking but it is still there... it is the CVT.. perhaps, i share some tips with you guys... when you are approaching a stop... try half press brake pedal, lift up for 1-1.5sec and half press again... then when come to the stop, only fully press... you will notice the jerking is gone !!! rclxms.gif ofcourse, don't do this at an emergency brake yea...

by the way, what is the stock oil that come with our new car? many HCH owner claimed that after change 0w20 on the car, it became like kind of lost of power hmm.gif

what you guys opt to use? 5w30 or 0w20?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think Honda only have one type of mineral oil for the engine. Honda's mineral oil, from what i learnt previously, is made by Idemitsu and it is a good oil. I have only reached 600km and I don't plan to change engine oil to Semi-Syn (definitely not Fully-syn). I will stick with Honda mineral oil.

About the braking technic, I just touch the brake lightly and the brake will apply itself with further braking. I will step more on the brake when I come to a halt. Like u said, it does reduce the jerking..which be pretty silly. I hope this will smoothen away with time as the brake pads wear in. Unless, the braking works in tandem with the battery recharging mechanism that causes the jerking sensation. In fact none of my passengers noticed any jerking. rclxms.gif I guess I am over sensitive. tongue.gif Oh well! what to do, I am so used to the smooth City iDSI's CVT gearbox (already 190,000km).

Haha, you may find us on Facebook via "Honda Civic 9th Gen Club Malaysia"

if Honda Msia discontinue I think we should sad about this...
but for my point of view, honda not likely to discontinue hybrid and it will continue sell with after tax price tag, just like wat happen on FD hybrid first launched.

If discontinued. Try to be proud owners lah. Because others got money also can't buy Civic Hybrid. They have to stick with Prius C or Jazz Hybrid only. We love Civic Hybrid bcoz it is sportier mah. Hee hee hee.

Spare parts ... I thought can get from Thailand. Shouldn't be too expensive. Our Civic Hybrid 2013 came from Thailand.

there is a forumer i know... spoilt 1 side of rear lamp only... cost RM1.1k blink.gif throat cutting...

i still love my HCH... by the way, i'm now on the real full tank of BHP and i would say avoid Shell at all cost, definitely something is wrong with their petrol... BHP is much much much more smoother and less jerking !!! whistling.gif

anyway, have a prosperous CNY for the HCH owners over here... enjoy the holiday and drive safe for who are travelling flex.gif

The ticking sound from engine is very loud if you stand outside the car. Maybe it has something to do with Shell RON95. <<fortunately the ticking sound is not audible inside the cabin rclxms.gif >> I will definitely try BHP next. Not easy to finish one tank of petrol in Penang.

Also, the car is so quiet even whilst moving i am starting to get annoyed by the aircond fan (even at level 1 fan-speed). Can you hear your fan-speed at level 1? It's not loud, just a low speed motor spinning. So I have to turn on the audio system. cool.gif
