I am concerned that if Ramires drops to midfield position in our 4231 system, which means he will play in the double pivot, passing would be a huge problem for him. Who do you think Ramires will replace?
If he replace Lampard, we won't have one midfielder to dictates the pace of the game. If he replace Mikel, we are lack of defensive cover for our fullbacks. Keep in mind that Ramires is not a defensive player, he don't provide much defensive work.
What are your thoughts?
i think he's capable actually. just needs that little bit of confidence and once he shakes off the rustiness, we'll see rami back to his best, bursting through the middle. if it were up to me, i'd rotate between him and lampsy, leave mikel to dictate the pace of the game. i've always seen him as a direct replacement for essien, taking into account his amazing stamina to get up and down the pitch! out of all our midfielders, he's probably the most energetic atm?

we have a plan b player in lukaku, but it seems he is frustated being a sub.
i doubt any top player will like being a sub.
look at torres last season.
exactly. lukaku came with a big reputation, and even though you couldn't really say he was a big name at the time, it's now clear he was desperately unhappy on the bench. i'd imagine someone like cavani wouldn't be too pleased either.
looking back at the reading goals, i think many here have pointed out the first one was practically unstoppable, (drogba would've been proud of that header) and the second was a howler from cech. i guess the big man's entitled to a few of those, and it's always better to make them early on against lower tier teams. i like how RDM compared hazard to our legendary no. 25, but it's still early days imo. he's got a long way to go but boy what a blazing start he's made! just love how he chose to square the boal to iva for the benefit of the team and focus less on personal glory. plus the added bonus of winning penalties fairly is he's now building a good reputation of staying on his feet in the box, and hopefully refs will take note of that.
