i'm using MRC prodigy advance 2 DCC controller on my layout. my locomotives (all are american) are from bachmann, intermountain, atlas, proto 2000 and a few very old DC engines which i had converted them to DCC by myself. all are working fine on my MRC controller, no problem at all. 1 of the problem you might encounter will be different types of coupler but it can be easily customized/fixed.

again, it all depends on your preferences such as type of diesels and their era. as for me i'm not so particular about era, i'm more concern with the price! these days i'll buy cheap good DC engines and convert them to DCC and also adding sound by myself, more fun!

right now i'm setting up my small layout at home, very small because doesn't have any space unlike what i had previously in auckland. more train items are on its way backhome here hopefully by end of june. anyone by any chance passing through seremban is always welcome to drop by my place here and we can talk about trains smile.gif

wao! it's very interesting to heard from you about all the trains..if i pass by seremban, hope can drop by your place to have a look.
Hope all your train items arrived safety and perfectly by end of june, then I can have a look. Haha...

By the way, my shop will have a opening at Paradigm Mall, 2nd floor, lot 6 at 1st July...Hope you can come then we can talk about trains...wakakak

faller products are very nice but pricey too. i bought some secondhand platforms recently, got them very cheap. those that in your pic are a little bit new/modern

Faller is one of my favorite also. Don't worry, you can still find some with cheaper price.
Or you can directly buy the scenery also, can save some money.

Those locomotives is digital or analogue? Look so nice!

both locomotives are powered and digital too... using digitrax decoders. i don't run analogue smile.gif

i did a kibri warehouse 4 months ago and i think kibri is much more precise and easier to built than faller. either way both faller and kibri are good products

Hello Guys,

Very Interesting to know there are many train modellers in Malaysia. It is also my hobby. At present i have a OO gauge model from Hornby, Bachmann Branchline. Mine is DCC (Hornby).

Im planning to start a 11 x 7 feet layout. At present mine is 6 x 4 feet (all ready dismantle most of it to start the new lay out).

To all you bros out there who wants to buy train models (the whole works!) biggrin.gif . My advise is go to Ebay. There price there is very much cheaper.

Cheers

Tips of Cleaning Track

Use green Scotch pad type scrub sponge (dry) or a fine sandpaper to clean that dirty track. Works especially well on the larger gauges. Never use steel wool on track. It creates tiny gouges that fill with dirt and never come clean. Use rubbing alcohol or liquid track cleaning solution to clean really dirty track.

Try an ordinary pencil eraser if you don't have an abrasive cleaning block, but need a quick track cleaning. Having clean locomotive wheels can be as important as clean rails as those wheels carry electricity to the motor. Eliminating as many sources of track grime as possible---dust and cigarette smoke, for example---will make cleaning your track easier.

the local agent at port klang will let me know once my cargo is here. my main concern now is the tax since i have so many train items... even though all those are my personal collection they will still find a way to tax them

ebay does can get very cheap but again shipping also expensive unless you do combine shipping

try invest/spend a little bit more and get a DCC setup... after that you don't have to upgrade anymore. but do pick carefully as some DCC controller have limitations on number of locomotives can run simultaneously

my humble layout... still very basic

Hi Guys,

Most of my items , i bought it from ebay. No need to be worried about Custom. Todate all the items reach my door steps safely. No Custom tax!

Todate i have bought 92 items form ebay and will keep on buying biggrin.gif .

Advise for a starter - Go to ebay and look for Hornby Digital train set. Very much cheaper than to buy from Hornby website. Hornby tracks are compatible with Bachmann & Peco.

Cheer biggrin.gif s
