HC is doable if you have the determination and will for it, aside from that some procedures and self discipline during engagements, after that it falls to whatever (ISP, powertrip, PC koyak etc) to kill your character.
Well, being able to get some pocket money out of your game is another kind of "Hardcore" to itself.
pretty much this.
and yeah im kinda way past that "hardcore" ness of it all.
i mean, i earn decent enough (despite the debt ridden life i have lol) to not "need" additional pocket money so i really just game for the sake of gaming/hobby

"assuming" you reach inferno that is on HC, then YES i would say lag spikes are a contributor to deaths, normal to hell? no.
again im not asking EVERY softcore player to jump ship to HC, im just noting this to ppl that keeps saying ill die coz of lag when i know very well most ppl die due to mistakes instead of lag, the journey from normal to end hell is different imo in HC, im not gonna comment on inferno HC mode as i have not been there yet, still working my way there, thats why im suggesting ppl to try HC, just personal experience, but if ppl dont try and keep blaming the lag, i dont think its fair to judge HC mode like that.
i finished normal to hell within 2 days after i got my game that is with me LOLLORE my normal mode ( i think i've mentioned this a couple times across this boards)
i also only have 1 death during normal to hell and that is of my own carelessness during my first encounter with "tree pumpkins" on normal mode - yes i sat in it "afk" while comparing gear/chat and died.
yeah sure that means hardcore fail. but considering if i skip LOLLORE on normal, i could prolly finish normal -> hell within 24 hours
MANY has done it in MUCH LESS time.
i could *PROBABLY* step it in inferno EZ PZ.
but see, the problem is i would not have confidence in progressing, much less FINISHING inferno hardcore with lagging issues in which kripparian also acknowledged.
why would i waste my time on something that i am almost certain i could not accomplished because of issues that are beyond my control?
i blame lag because i have very good justification to it, whether you accept it or not.
i've always blamed lag especially even more so during the time i was "hardcore" with my games. even 200-400ms ping is a huge difference that means either victory or utter defeat in old WoW PVP/arenas. that lag could mean your entire marine wiping without causing equal, if not substantial damage in contrast on how much you spent for your drop on a drop stutter stepping at mineral line and i think you can always look up my sc2 profile that it can easily show you that im no random "casual player" when it was beta/first year of release.
hell i was even placed fairly high during war3 AT ladders. (i've always preferred coop over solo) but yeah because of lag, and how micro intensive war3 is, we dont really get far especially on those bnet war3 online tourneys, at most we got placed into top3 or top 4.
but hey, what did whining and b****ing about lag done after all these years since war3?
i'll tell you what - nothing.
absolutely nothing.
and there's nothing you can do to completely solve it. sure vpn helps, but it does not completely 100% solve your geographical latency limitation. hell, i work in an isp company now, i know DAMN well with our current technology, eliminating geographical latency/limitation is IMPOSSIBLE.
