But the last time I played AC on my NDSL, it got boring rather fast as I had no friends to play with. Would this version require a group of friends to play with for it to be fun or would it be fine to pick it up and play alone as none of my friends own a DS system?
I think we're in the same shoe. I had the same concern before picking up this game (yeah, my AC:WW town full of weeds now.. >~<) and none of my close friends have a 3DS... *sobs*
In my opinion, I say it's fun playing alone. I mean, I started playing this game a month ago and I'm still hooked. It might be a little slow at first, but once you got your mayor powers, I say, it's worth it. You can interact and run errands for your villagers, catch bugs and fishes and donate them to the museum or sell them at Re-Tail for bells, customise how you look, how your house looks (interior and exterior), how your TOWN looks.. Heck, I'm looking forward to every little event that will take place in my town. You can even go to the island and choose to play the tours on your own too.
Well, of course, things would be more exciting with friends. You can get a few awesome friends here on LYN... Haha... but, playing this game alone is enjoyable too.
I have no regrets picking up AC:NL... ^.~

It would be awesome if you have Wi-Fi that your 3DS can connect to~ \o/
ACNL community is pretty huge, so you won't really feel lonely. Think of ACNL as a sandbox, you can pretty much do anything you like either alone (catch bugs and fishes, collect fossils and furnitures blah) or enjoy with friends (Tortimer Island games, chilling in town).
Thanks Sakazaki & Sapphire! I've just ordered my very own AC: NL and can't wait for it to arrive this Tuesday! *crosses fingers*
Now to spend some time reading up on this game as I've never truly played it properly.
By the way, I was looking through some videos on YouTube and came across a video of Aika Village. Just curious as to how many of you have visited this village before? It seems like an interesting place to explore.

Does anyone know if this game is playable with others from different regions? I have a friend who is using an EU/Australia region and was wondering if it's possible to play the game together.
Doki.. Maybe you can create a second player to store your fruits.. That what I do... Hehehe... To achieve 70k points.. I think just need two rooms with all the furniture series...
Sorry for the noob questions but.. you can have more than 1 character in this game?
You can actually pop balloons with your net, provided that you have a beach on the right or left of your town, and also provided that the balloon is heading towards the direction of your beach.
When the balloon reaches the end of the cliff, it tends to lower, allowing you to pop it with your net. :3
Thanks for the hint! I never knew that it was possible to do that. Will definitely try this when I get the chance!
Yups... you can go another player town to use shampoodle... but you only can have 1 hair cut per day.....
Thanks Rene!
If anyone is opening their town tomorrow before Shampoodle closes, I would dearly love to visit and use the salon as I am still 10 days away from having her in my town.
Today would have been a double joyous occassion in which I would have completed my museum fossil collection AND get my golden watering can from Town Hall. Everything was going on so well, I got the Lazy-Susan table AND a sailor suit from villagers, both of which I'd wanted for quite some time. Ayup, seemed like a smooth day.
That is, until my 3DS batteries died on me.
When I resume game, none of the fossils I dug out are the Raptor Torso I want. My Museum remains incomplete. My villagers no longer send out requests. Nor are they giving me the things I'd wanted. Q_Q Always save often and charge your 3DS batteries.
Now, excuse me, let me just find a corner and emo. oTL
Ouch, sorry to hear that Sapphire. Here's to hoping that you will get another lucky day soon. *pats*
