Twenty-seven out of the 30 Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) council members have won a free round-trip to London to support the shuttlers at the Olympic Games from the quarter-final stage onwards.

Three of them have declined the trip.

BAM will fork out an estimated RM250,000 for the trip, which includes travel, accommodation and tickets to watch the matches from the quarter-finals onwards. Not all of them have the accredited pass.

OK what. Don't tell me they send our athlete overseas then no supporter go? Already spend so much money training him plus if he win gold will fork out even more money. Pride of the country.

yeah... so does the poor kid in some rural area. but yea, those kids can die, supporting LCW is more important! Nice logic u have.
BAM got the funding from the Sport ministry, meaning its coming from the tax payer.

There's already money allocated for rural purpose in the first place.

Your argument is as if saying government spending is 100% on one particular, single purpose, when in actual, like any government else in the world, budget is apportioned to certain amount for many different purposes.

what im saying is that money could have been use for better purpose. and those got sponsored, i could safely says that its their own people. if say they were sponsoring those that cant really afford to go, then its ok. charity better than cronies.

It's better if they send dieticians, doctors, trainers, psychologists or other personnel who would actually contribute to his well-being instead of 27 people who would be sitting in the stands. Unless of course, those experts are already included.

I'm not sure if you notice it, but I see from telecasts that Malaysia always seem to have a sizable group of supporters in UK badminton events.
