If he is considered a dependent of his mother, in this case, the resident, his fees under the CSP (Commonwealth Supported Place) drop from an average of 3k per subject per sem, to about 900 dollars. That's 70 percent savings. As a student, he probably did not fit the requirement for a PR.

The application itself at the time I believe costed 1500 dollars (2nd charge only for dependents with less than functional English). Taking into mind that you need 4 subjects per sem to qualify as a full time student, that's a savings of 8400 dollars every 6 months.

Also as a resident after 2 years post grant, you qualify for Centrelink payments if you're in Uni. The government essentially supports your living costs. This is called "Youth Allowance" and locks in with another allowance called "AUSTUDY".

After eating so much Aussie taxpayer dollars I sure hope he didn't.
Well, our maximum taxation bracket is near 50 percent. So it goes both ways.

To balance out the Malaysian Chinese migrant population, the Australian government, headed by my shooting and drinking buddy Bob Katter gave me citizenship. And the rest is history.

I don't come back not because of the government or any PR/BN fanboism. I don't go back because the market is oversaturated with shit engineers so much so we're relegated to the position of "educated coolie".

You can roughly figure what I get from visiting the ATO website and looking up the taxation rates.

It is a great lost for malaysia as u gave up the citizenship as a malaysian. Wish u all the best there.
