Introducing MACH by HongLeong Bank

The Credit Card that rewards you for being you. Customise your card to match your personality and boost your cashback rewards in 12 different categories from
Movies to Dining.

https://www.machbyhongleong.com/mach-credit-card

Start off with choosing EITHER one of three FREE packages which includes

1. Social
- 10% Cashback on all Movie outlets: GSC, TGV, MBO, Cineleisure and Cathay (MCC 7832)
- 2% Cashback on All bars and nightclubs including: Zouk, Mist, Milk, Movida, Hard Rock Cafe, Red Box, Finnegan's etc. (MCC 5813)
- 3% Cashback on all event tickets bought from AirAsia RedTix, TicketCharge, TicketPro and all Rock Corner outlets

2. TrendSetter
- 2% Cashback on Major Style outlets: Uniqlo, Cotton On, Esprit, Topshop, Topman, Forever 21, Zara, Converse, G2000, Charles & Keith
- 1% Cashback on All tickets & hotels purchased with AirAsia
- 5% Cashback on ALL Dining outlets (MCC 5811, 5812, 5814)

3. Savvy
- 2% Cashback on Health & Fitness: Celebrity Fitness, Fitness Concept, True Fitness, Fitness First, GNC's, Watson's and Guardian
- 3% Cashback on Mobile: DIGI, Celcom & Maxis
- 2% Cashback on Groceries: Giant, Tesco, Cold Storage, and many more (MCC 5411)

Also
3 extra categories to choose from
- 1% Additional Cashback on ALL online purchases
[Example: You can COMBO it when you buy GSC movie tickets Online, giving a total of 11% Cashback]
- 2% Cashback on Tech stuff including: Machines, IT Hypermarket, Epicenter and so much more (MCC 5045 and 5732)
- 2% Casback on Departmental purchases: Parkson, Tangs, Debenhams, M&S, Isetan and Metrojaya

each category is capped at RM100 per quarter per month. meaning if you hit your threshold of RM100 cashback for Dining, you will not be entitled for more cashback the following month till the new quarter starts

Other expenses such as Petrol etc: 0.2% Cashback capped at RM50 per month

ONLY pay RM5 every 3 months to enjoy additional categories of CashBack! here's how the mechanism works:

Scenario 1
Person A took Social Package
Free Categories: Movies, Nightlife and Events
Person A wish to take up Tech and Online
Person A then will ONLY pay RM5 per category to enjoy Cashback on these 2 categories until the quarter ends.
so total fees to pay is only RM10!

Scenario 2
Person B wishes to get ALL categories:
Person B only pays RM5 for all other categories that's not included in the package
so Person B pays RM5 X 9 = RM45 every 3 months to enjoy ALL categories given

Example:
Dining Category. maximum cashback for 3 months is capped at RM100.
July: you spent RM1500 on dining: RM75
August: RM1000 on dining: RM25 cashback, the rest burned
September: RM800 on dining: no cashback as reached the treshold
October: RM900 on dining: RM45 cashback (cycle is renewed)

Cashback period is renewed every 1st day of the new Quarter: 1st of Jan, 1st of April, 1st of July, 1st of Oct
each add-on category is subject to a fee of RM5 for each calendar quarter. the Fee charged will be apportioned for a new cardholder depending on the opening date of the Mach Card account and the same will be rounded to the nearest cent.

Not only that, there's more
If a customer is not sure on what additional categories to take on. he can start off with any these 3 packages.
customer can logon to HongLeongConnect to view their credit card account, and from there they can click whichever categories they would like at anytime.
Whenever you add a new category, the category will only start giving you cashback during the next NEW quarter, same goes to the RM5, which will be charged to the person on the next NEW quarter.
To swap just wait for the next quarter to start over and unclick the previous category, and click on another category the customer prefers before the new quarter starts.

example:
Say you intend to buy a Dell laptop via online but you're not sure when..
so you start of with the Savvy package.
you wish to get 2% Tech and 1% Online to save up on your Dell Laptop on the following quarter,
So you click these 2 packages, no charges until the NEXT new quarter starts. after the new quarter starts, you can then purchase your Dell Laptop with 3% Cashback.

PRO-RATED RM5
The pro-rated RM5 for every new category is only applicable when you applied and MACH card, and you wish to add additional category in the application form.
Example: you took the Savvy Package with add-on Movies category when you applied your MACH Card.

Say the time your card account was succesfully create on the 10th of August.
so currently your card can enjoy the Savvy Package cashback + the Movies cashback.
as for the Movies package, the RM5 will be deducted base on the pro-rate of:

(51/92) X RM5 = RM2.77 (Rough Example)

This will only apply when the person applies the card. thereafter there will be no more pro-rated RM5 as whenever the person wants to add additional category the new category can only receive cash back on the next NEW quarter.

Annual Fee waiver is mentioned in the first page of the application form
here's the criteria quoted from the form:
1st year AF Waiver
Subsequent year annual fee waiver subject to Condition 1 or Condition 2
Condition 1: Min spend per annum RM8,000
Condition 2: Min number of swipes per annum, 12 times

QUALIFYING CRITERIA:

AF Waiver for mach card:

if you are new to bank then you will be able to enjoy this Waiver of 1 Swipe in 45 days for Ann Fees.
if you are existing EBB you still can enjoy this waiver mechanism
if you are existing to HLB (Essential/Gold/Business Plat etc) then you will not be able to enjoy this waiver mechanism.
However you get to apply this card with only your IC, as the card is shared limit with your existing HLB credit cards

hope this answers your questions

Thank you for the above info. Is the above stated on the application form? If yes good. If no, then what assurance does the customers have since it is not stated in the terms and conditions?
You no need to say also can see from you guys' posting lah  tongue.gif  And you know what, you guys are not suppose to advertise your company's product, hahaha.

But if your colleague started this thread for discussion purposes, then it is okay in my opinion since it is good we have HLB staff here to assist LYN members on quires (like in CIMB Thread we have superwoman). I hope jonjack88 will update the first post frequently with info like what you provided above and also list the cons too and not make it like an advertisement for HLB  whistling.gif

Dear gen-X,

Thanks once again for your replies
We understood very well of the current HLBs issues customers are facing which includes bad customer service, no feedback and poor information explanation.

my post here is to first of all explain our product, second is to get feedback from gurus and customers on how can we improve.
For us mach, is not about selling, is about building relationships with our customers.

any questions by forumers feel free to drop a message or post here. Thanks

No gst waiver applicable. AF waiver auto with 1 swipe every month
For customers who hold only ex eon bank cards such as gsc and Marta.
Can get waiver when apply Mach cc

this is for clarification purpose

Hi, any idea if priority pass will be re-introduce to your Visa Signature?
*
Hi human nature.
Mach by Hong Leong bank is a separate division of Hong Leong Bank
Therefore they can't sell any products outside mach

As for priority pass you have to clarify with the branch personnel or customer service.
apologies that i cant help you on this matter

Well I have read Mach by HLB Customer Service Charter and it is basically the same as Hong Leong Bank Customer Service Charter where both hope to achieve 90% rating customer satisfactions, hahaha.

However, there is one place Mach needs improvement, that is provide 24/7 CS:

Mach Helpline at +603 7951 1988 to speak to our Customer Relationship Officers between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM (Monday to Friday only).

This is also what was stated in mach website "For more details on our complaints procedure, please visit www.hlb.com.my. We will tell you how to make your complaint as well as our procedures for handling them fairly and quickly".

If you have enquiries, concerns or comments please call, write, e-mail or fax us at Mailing Address:
Service Quality Management - Customer Experience
Hong Leong Bank Berhad, Level 2, Wisma Hong Leong, 18, Jalan Perak, 50450 Kuala Lumpur.
Contact Centre : 03-7626 8899 Facsimile : 03-7946 8884 Email : HLOnline@hlbb.hongleong.com.my

Mach by Hong Leong Bank is not a separate division of HLBB but a part of HLBB and the customer uses HLB's Hong Leong Connect. And to add further, the HLG's personnel assigned to mach centres are "selling" (as you put it but I would rather use the word providing services so that they don't sound like salesmen) Hong Leong Bank Bhd's products such as Personal Loans, Car Hire Purchase and even the Credit & Debit Cards. If you refer to the mach's product T&C - Bank means Hong Leong Bank and not mach.

So coming back to your apology, since you are part of HLBB,  don't apologize but go ask your superior if you don't know the answer as stated in your Customer Service Charter and give us satisfactory answer within the next working day. And if your immediate superior also does not know the answer, go ask the relevant department head and hopefully they reply you within 4 days so that you can share with us and keep to what is promised in the Customer Service Charter and help your bank achieve 90% satisfied customer ratings  tongue.gif
*
Love your response in regards to customer service..

i shall reply base on paragraph Gen-X

1.
The 03-79511988 is indeed a hotline which gives all customers an answer, FAQs on all Mach products we have, that states the reason why the helpline is applicable from 9AM to 5PM.

If you have any queries related to Mach products outside office hours, you can either:-
1. drop by the branches from 5-10pm everyday including Sat and Sun
2. get in touch with Mach PFCs during office hours with the hotline, and someone will reply you within the promised frame time. if you are lucky, some PFCs will work more later just to get service done for you.

For any customer service related issues such as card activation, lost card, card transactions dispute etc, definitely have to refer back to the Customer Service Center as they have the tools to handle your requests immediately, that's where their duty lies.

As for Mach PFCs, they not only handle product information and presentation, but also assist customers who walk into branch for several needs such as ATM&CDM disputes, account information enquiry and opening of bank savings accounts (MoneyBox) at this point of time. there will be much more improvements in the near future where our branch will be fully functional as a normal conventional branch. in the mean time all other product queries outside of Mach's products are handled by the branch or customer service itself.

24/7 CS is obviously all bank's main priority. that's not up to me to decide as i'm only the threadstarter of Mach Credit Card and not the CS manager of any organization. =D

2.

As for Question 2, in case i get flame here.. i'm just a threadstarter. nothing more. you are all free to discuss anything related to this credit card. as for Mach, is solely backed by Hong Leong Bank. is a separate project catered for Gen-Y as mentioned.

Lastly, what i meant on that phrase when I say it's separate is that, when a customer goes to a conventional HLB branch, the customer is unable to enquire or to get Mach's services. so thus Mach branches will not be able to provide any services related to conventional HLB products such as unit trust, bancassurance, Mortgage etc. Mach branches only promote Mach Credit cards only.
however a customer can go to a Mach branch to ask on general inquiries such as loan installment amount of existing products, bank balances etc

hopefully this can clear some of the air. =D

One way to define it is Salesman  wink.gif Nowadays if one working in bank branches, the execs are required to meet quota for this and that. HLB tellers also under pressure where they also got quota on customer satisfaction (you can rate them and their bonus also depends on their rating from customers).

Anyone interested in applying of the position below to assist HLB get 90% customer rating satisfaction for mach centres? I want to apply but I worry no one will sign up for the mach card if I sell them.

Bro, HLBB paying you overtime ar to answer queries/comments here ? Or is it part of your scope of works?
*
Haha.. nice one.. we are hiring actually.. =D

as for why i work extra hours? partly because i want to go the extra mile, not because of the bank, but i feel as a customer we all deserve to know things which are kept from us, be it any industry..

is not part of my jobscope, i actually started this thread without my bosses acknowledgement, on my own consent. lets treat this as a discussion page shall we. =D

so who knows if you can meet a genuine banker who genuinely wants you to save money instead donating to the bank.. i wouldn't know.. =D

Congratulations to TS on this new thread and the popularity and acceptance of this thread speaks for itself.

I'd like to take this opportunity to remind everyone here (especially TS) on the difference between GST waiver and GST offset. I've clearly indicated swift deletion of posts that uses the wrong terminology. I don't want our readers to be misled and misunderstand the difference between the both as this has been going on for too long.

Thanks folks and enjoy your time here.

The auto annual fee waiver requirement for my HLB VS is spend RM30K and never heard of auto waiver for my Plat (yet to see this is true since I now got PB). BUT HLB very good, have been waiving my annual fee yearly for my Plat smile.gif

as visa signature is considered an ex eon bank product till now, it will have certain different criterias that differs from other cards.

best is to directly inquire with customer service.

andyfriends, this card only has one category, which makes it easier for all working citizens to apply with ease.
Mach wants to give these benefits to all who have met that minimal criteria, at least they can see some rewards from spending compared to a generic gold card.

Will somebody kind and hardworking enough to make a comparison between Mach cash back vs Citibank cash back vs UOB One card? Thank you blush.gif

Honestly even if u do a full comparison, no answer is correct.
Becoz everybody is different, every transaction is different. Sometimes u spend more sometimes less. Sometimes u spend more on other things or even there's a change of spending habits.

So whichever card that suits your need at this point of time might not suit you in the near future.

Example is now u wish to save more so u own a cashback card
Later u wish to have golf privileges since u become more affluent then you will think of visa signature or a special platinum card.

hahaha, noted you deleted your misleading statement you posted yesterday. And, the fact is today, if one sign up for the HLB VS, one is signing up with HLB and the card not issued from EBB. And what about the HLB Plat AF waiver mechanism, also the same standard apply as you claim? Oh, I forgot, since HLB Plat is not a mach product, call CS for further information. I guess that is what was trained to HLB PFC tongue.gif

For the benefit of all, you should post your reply below in post#1 and also clearly state the annual fee for the mach credit card so that you are providing a more complete picture of the product; and also to inform our members whom are existing HLB card holders not to waste their time going to mach centres if they not willing to pay the annual fee.
As for the cash back based on your latest updated edited info below, besides the max RM100 cash back cap every quarter, there is no monthly cap for any category enrolled right?
The cash back is not just based on 3 months enrollment (when applicable) but preset to the 1st of each calendar quarter. So if one sign up for the mach in September, one is "entitled" to cash back up RM100 for the "first month" and on the "second month" he/she is once again entitled up to RM100 cash back smile.gif I think you should also highlight the quarter thingy to our members who are lazy to read the T&C  tongue.gif

I like mach Product Disclosure Sheet opening statement - Read this Product Disclosure Sheet before you decide to take up the Hong Leong Mach Credit Card. Be sure to also read the general terms and conditions.

Can you give us link to the RM100 cap cash back for any category enrolled for every quarter. I just cannot seem to find anything stated on the cash back cap in the mach website nor in the T&C. Furthermore, what is there there to safe guard the consumer interest if HLB fail to credit the cash back combined from different category as per your example for the Dell purchase since this is also not stated in the T&C.

https://www.machbyhongleong.com/product-ter...ach-credit-card

One thing I must say HLB is really good to inform the below (which is a BNM ruling anyway) in the Product Disclosure Sheet https://www.machbyhongleong.com/downloads/M...osure_Sheet.pdf

Liability for Unauthorised Transactions
The Cardholder’s maximum liability for unauthorised transactions in the event of lost or stolen credit card, shall not exceed RM250, provided the Cardholder has not acted fraudulently and reported the lost/stolen card incidence as soon as possible.
This is what your MD said for mach- "We are aiming at the young upward professional and not the lower-income segment," adding that Mach would complement normal brick-and-mortar branches."
HLB so clever to kira, by introducing a "higher" range card means they have to provide more service which in turns will increase their cost. As it is now, mach by HLB has no 24/7 CS but from what I gather having their PFC multitask as being CS too.
