Looks ok but I suggest you ditch MBK on day 2 if you just wanna do some window shopping...there's nothing particularly interesting in MBK, it's like Sg Wang Plaza and most of the shops wont be open till after 11am. trust me on this. I was there 3 weeks ago at 10am on a weekend.
As for shopping in Asiatique...not sure if this applies to all the stores but the last I check, they said they close at 11pm. I only asked one stall so I cannot say the same for the others. It's a good place to dine and relax...there's a ladyboy show there but you can skip it...its not nice at all. Just came back from BKK. their protest got concert as well. LOL! we were able to travel freely. no problem at all apart from the mall closing at 6-7pm. I've never seen Siam Paragon so empty in all the years I've been there.

which flight are you using?
since you're travelling with family, just use the cab. its convenient. if you're on a budget and the plane lands on suvarnabumi airport, just take the airport rail link and switch to the BTS. you should alight at nana station and walk. if your plane lands in don muang airport, just take the bus outside the airport directly to the mo chit bts station and alight at nana and walk from there. bus fare is 30 baht per person. your hotel is safe...quite a distance from ground zero. if anything, I feel that soi 15 is quite quiet and boring QUOTE(csong60 @ Jan 20 2014, 09:03 PM) Hi!, I have booked hotel for my family at Manhattan Hotel located at 13 Sukhumvit 15 Rd.,Klongtoey-Nua,Wattana, Wattana during coming Chinese New Year. Since this my first trip to Bangkok, may I know what is the most convenient way to go to the hotel from airport. Is the hotel located at the "ShutDown" zone? Thanks. |

QUOTE(csong60 @ Jan 21 2014, 06:16 AM) Thanks for the comments, freak. Much appreciated. Soi 15 is not as lively as the other soi near nana BTS. if you want an 'interesting and colorful' soi, I'd recommend soi 11 but there are alot of foreigners there. I stayed at Salil hotel while I was there and the rooms are not bad at all. I will be using AirAsia & landing at Don Muang. You mean the Manhattan Hotel is situated at a quite & boring area? Any shopping complex around it? I have booked thro' Booking.com BUT still have time to cancel booking .... so can you suggest a more ideal hotel nearby shopping areas? Many thanks again. soi 15 is about 5-10 mins walk to Terminal 21 shopping mall (Asok BTS station) there are alot of hotels just beside terminal 21 at soi 19. maybe you can try there? I've never stayed in any of the hotels in soi19 before. THe closest I've stayed near to the mall was when I stayed in Tune Hotel. It's just right opposite Terminal 21 but that lane is probably more quiet than soi15. if you want a peaceful stay, you can consider tune hotel but the rooms are small. |
