Hi, do we really need to make advance reservation for Lebua Skybar? Anyone stated at Ramada D'Ma hotel before?

add: do we need electric socket adapter?

Thank you MilesAndMore biggrin.gif

Ramada D'Ma is the hotel enlisted in the travel package by my tour and the quoted price is about the same too!! sweat.gif I already paid for the fee but will try to change it to Pullman; I remember you mentioned about it at the CC thread.

You gotta tell us your areas of interest. Ladies may want to go shopping on Day 3; guys may want to return to the Motor Show...
Also, let us know what day is Day 3. Chatuchak is opened on weekend only.
*
We shall focus on shopping on Day 3 (Friday). My main concern is the transport, may need to rely on places with good transportation connection. Read that tuk tuk is not recommended, so taxi (the blue color one?) may be an option too. Tentatively, staying at Ramada D'Ma, according to the website, it is:

A few minutes walk from the new Airport Rail Link (ARL) Station
• 400 m. from Ratchaprarop ARL Station
• 1.5 km. from Nakkasan ARL Station
(Bangkok City Air terminal -BCAT)

Easy connection to BTS Sky Train and MRT Subway
• Phrayathai ARL Station connects to Phrayathai BTS Station
• Makkasan ARL Station connects to Petchburi BTS Station

Pratunam shopping centre and Siam Paragon is within 1.5 km radius from the hotel

Thank you smile.gif

Can just walk to Pratunam, Central World and Siam if all you want to do is shop on the last day.
Hi, thank you. I think that 3 will do. Thank you smile.gif

Good. Shopping is a must in Bangkok   biggrin.gif
Woah, thank you for all this info! I will just print this out and bring along tongue.gif Pratunam Mall and Platinum Mall is definitely inside the list. Will read up on MBK as it looks a bit further. I read that Siam Paragon is for upper range stuffs, so I will probably skip shopping here and have a look at the Gourmet Market if time permits, I am intrigued by your description.

Haha, one of my uncle keep saying take the blue one will do. At least I know better now laugh.gif I don't see any railway line (?) connecting Pratunam Mall-Platinum Mall-Central World-Siam Paragon, so will have to use taxi for hopping.

Looks like I can minimize the use of the railways, unless I somehow decide to make a trip to Terminal 21 which is near to Asok BTS/Sukhumvit MRT. Read that they have an interesting concept there.

My Day 3 will look like this:
Hotel > taxi Pratunam Mall > Platinum Mall > Central World Plaza > Siam Paragon > taxi to hotel. Any route that you think it is better to walk instead?

Quite hectic sweat.gif and I still wondering whether to go to Baiyoke Sky Tower market. Or maybe put 1 mall to Day 1/2 night.

Thank you biggrin.gif

Add: what is this gem shop that you guys are talking about? I got a feeling that the 'Jewellery shopping' in my itinerary refers to this place.

Day 3 - Saturday
Morning & Noon - Chartuchak Market
Night - Buffet at Baiyoke (since its like highly recommend in this forum)
How to make the booking?
How to reach there?
The Buffet is at Baiyoke Suite or Baiyoke Tower?
Heard there is a sky bar here rite?
*
Hi, there are several buffet spreads at Baiyoke - international, chinese, grill etc at different floors. When I went there, one is already fully reserved so maybe you might wanna place a reservation if you intend to go to a specific one. It is the Baiyoke Tower, going there is easy. It is the highest tower there, just look up to the sky and walk towards it. Yes, there is a skybar too but after having the buffet, I dont think you can fill in more tongue.gif

Hi, yeap just returned from a short 3 days trip.

We arrived at DMK at around 9 am. Our friendly guide was there waiting for us. A very nice, friendly and humorous chap. We straight away headed to Chao Phraya for the river boat ride, made a brief stopover to feed the fishes with some breads before stopping at Wat Arun. Upon disembarking at the jetty, we saw two cardboard cutouts (the one where you can place your face and snap photos. So we eagerly posed and took some photos. and then one man came out of no where and ask us to pay. He pointed at a tiny paper placed at the feet of the cutouts showing a numerical value of 40. Yeaah, 40 baht per person, 8 of us, using our own camera! So we duly paid doh.gif After us, several other tourists fall into the same trap. Haha, so better be mindful of this. Wat Arun is magnificent but I didnt go up the stairs as the weather was so hot! I was drenched in sweat, so remember to wear light and bring your shades wink.gif

Next, we headed to Wat Pho also known as the temple of the reclining statue, and then went for a short drive around near the Grand Palace area. Traffic jams everywhere. I can't bear looking at the tangled electric/telecommunication street wires tongue.gif At around 1 pm, went for a lunch spread at a hotel which is included in the tour package before check-in to hotel. Later in the afternoon, it is free and easy, so we walked to Indra Wholesale Complex for some shopping action. It is located just next to Baiyoke, where we went for the buffet. The buffet spread is okay but what i like more is that there were performers walking around and going to your table to do magic shows, etc. After that more shopping at the market below Baiyoke and along the way back to hotel. I notice that there are many tourists from India all over Bangkok. Any idea why?

Second day is solely dedicated to the Motor Show at Impact Thani. I won't write much as you will read/see more at Paul Tan's blog tongue.gif We spent the whole day here and then headed over to Tawandang German Brewery for dinner. The food is good, and again, I like the entertainment/shows more. I was ecstatic when one of the singer sang sabai sabai! Last stop is body massage at one of the parlor near my hotel. It was good, and the masseur is quite a looker too tongue.gif

Continue later

Not just India, there are many European and North Asian tourists too. That is why they can support so many flights to Europe and North Asia from Bangkok whereas KLIA can't. Indian nationals like to go to buy SONY and Samsung LED TV. No, i don't know why  laugh.gif

Anyway, i suppose you had a great time there ?  biggrin.gif

YEP! The trip was great, but very short blush.gif Guess what, I followed your instruction to walk inside central world, leading my troupe all the way out of Isetan and walla! the four face buddha shrine is just right there! now i know why Bangkok is synonym with shopping, things are just so cheap over there. Took a bus ride (just like the locals tongue.gif ) from Ramada to MBK, and then walked all the way back sweat.gif I missed may other places so pretty sure there will be a next trip.

p/s Ramada D'ma is in sorry state

The last time I went to Tawandang German Brewery at Rama 3, it was arranged by my tour guide. I plan to go there again on my own on a taxi. What is a fair taxi fare from pratunam to there? If I recall correctly, that place is quite secluded and getting a ride back to pratunam may be a problem. Any idea on how to overcome this? Anyone who has been there, please do share your arrangement. Thanks!

Will be traveling to BKK on 16-20 May (5D4N) for the first time in a group of 4-6. More for food hunting, shopping & photography, a little bit of sight-seeing. I've been reading this forum for more than a month but still unsure whether my intineraries are okay or not. Experienced travelers please comment a bit, thanks.

18/5 (Sat)
8.00am - Taling Chan floating market
10.00am - Grand Palace, Wat Po, Wat Arun
2.30pm - Go to buy ticket (Calypso @ Wax museum/ Ocean World) from Mama Tour in Khaosan Road
3.30pm - Chinatown day market, birdnest
5.30pm - Green shirt T&K Seafood
6.30pm - Asiatique Riverfront
8.15pm - Calypso Cabaret show
9.30pm - continue Asiatique Riverfront - shopping & food hunting
11.00pm - back to hotel

Unsure & need advice:
1. Buying ticket from Mama Tour - will be given a 'real' ticket or just a voucher that I have to claim ticket at the counter?

Hi, may I ask how much is the ticket price for calypso and ocean world from mama tour? also is it a real ticket or voucher? thanks
