QUOTE(mixologist84 @ Oct 29 2013, 11:06 PM) Hi peeps, For question one.. I just did it last month and I forget haha ... IINM it's 250 bath and its standard across all banks (this confirm, I tried 3 banks lol). You should check with your local bank for extra charges instead. Public bank charge rm10 per transaction.i have a few questions. 1. im going to be in bkk / pattaya for 6 days and worried to bring all the cash i need while travelling. wanted to check how much is the meps/or whatever fee if i withdraw money using my mbb atm card. Any specific bank i should go for better charges? 2. Does the shopping malls take credit cards (platinum/pratunam) how convenient it is using a ccard there? 3.what about theft and snatch cases? any specific ares's i need to be wary of? im asking bcoz 2 of my friend was pickpocketed while they were at one of those markets in bkk. thanks in advance |

QUOTE(mixologist84 @ Oct 31 2013, 10:12 AM) That's cheap la ... u try take advance cash with cc before ? lol ... btw this is of course for emergency .. you should always take enough cash there ... and i advice change extra like USD200 to keep in your wallet for emergency ... you should never take atm from overseas ... unless you really have no choice ... that time .. 37 will be considered cheap |

QUOTE(tahfeikei @ Nov 8 2013, 02:45 PM) Hi AFAIK ... Thai people is very "cincai" .... local thai ppl tell me this .. no1 cares about your fashion hence the high number of fakes there ... I think many girls are taking fake LV bags and no1 cares ... not like in KL where people think they are so high class and if you wear fake nike, LV, adidas or whatsoever, people look down on you ... i feel very relax in bangkok ... don't worry ...Is ok to wear shorts in bangkok? I am not referring to the dress codes in the palace or temples or high class places. Just in general like in the malls. I read on the net that the Thais frown upon shabbily dressed tourists. Is it true? Thanks Tfk edit: sorry ... note the difference of "basic" and "shabby" .... u wear fake shirt, short pants, slipper .. i consider that basic .. which should be no problem ... shabby would be like .... torn shirt .. weird pants ... then a sport shoe maybe .. that's shabby and weird ... that i think everyone in the world will look at you ... coz tat's juz weird This post has been edited by GymBoi: Nov 8 2013, 03:29 PM |

QUOTE(edmund yee @ Nov 17 2013, 03:02 PM) Thanks for the pictures , its not the protest that I am worried of but the traffic jam especially near the MRT or BTS station. It seems that the protest is near to the tourist areas too. As tourist we would be losing out on visiting time when taxis take detour to avoid the crowd and Bangkok jam is horrendous even on normal days and with this I think it is going to get worse. Went to Wat Arun last Friday ... worst decision ever .... the taxi driver was cursing from start to end lol ... everywhere block block block ... cannot go in cannot go out ... oh well |

QUOTE(sangaran @ Dec 8 2013, 08:37 PM) Want to ask, can we purchase the SIM card for unlimited 3G internet at the suvarnabhumi airport? I tell you what's best ... not sure if it works for you .. maybe it's just a glitch but it happened to me and i'm damn happy lol ..bought one beginning of this year, but it costs around 1200tb. i know it shouldnt be that expensive anyway. Go 7-11 .. buy anything and get yourself ONE STICKER .. exchange it with the TRUE SIM ... just tell them FREE TRUE SIM ... pop that in your phone .. tadaa free unlimited data lol ... NO EXPIRY ... i used it like 1 month and I didn't get charged .. don't ask me why lol |

QUOTE(EvOliver @ Dec 8 2013, 10:11 PM) So I assume what you got was just a basic internet similar to Hotlink Basic Internet. Nope .. didn't register anything like that ... still got it for free To add to that, check this out: http://truemoveh.truecorp.co.th/campaign/entry/2176?ln=en Get the FREE SIM as you've explained by buying something at 7-11 to get a sticker to exchange for a FREE TRUE SIM, then dial *850*1# to get 2GB free internet valid for 30 days. If you stay longer then 30 days, you'll then receive another 200MB for subsequent months for 10 months. It's 3G speed. Superb deal...! |

QUOTE(dopamine @ Dec 18 2013, 09:47 PM) Anyone stayed in the heritage bangkok or iresidence hotel in Silom before? Silom is probably not a good idea at this time..It is just located besides the Chong Nonsi BTS. QUOTE(happyshirt @ Dec 19 2013, 02:54 PM) I checked the map and saw that Dusit Zoo is right behind Government House. That is where the protestors are right? If they're still protesting when i go in Jan then probably can't go to the zoo? Not sure that area wo.. I can try ask my friend or maybe xccess can help .. He seems to be in bangkok long time hahaSure probably won't see any problems but then one shouldn't go walking right into where the protests are though right? Thanks. QUOTE(Xccess @ Dec 20 2013, 03:29 PM) Those in Bangkok must be enjoying the unusual cooling weather that reaches 17 degree at night. Indeed.. Feels kinda like genting I'm lovin it hahaTo those ULTRA SENSITIVE PEOPLE ... Try not to go Chinatown also...I was there just now.. Some jokers blowing whistle and stuff... Didn't find anything particularly interesting in Chinatown as well so I just left after my dinner... didn't quite like the sound of whistle especially at this kind of time in bangkok haha |
