it is for heating up the engine when cold start...theres a vacuum valve controls it...when the engine is heating up..it sucks heat from exhaust manifold to heat the air fuel mixture...when the engine is up to temperature..the auto choke opens...and the vacuum air close the valve to suck cold air from the end of the air box nozzle...thats how its work...
