2.0 camry and 1.6 wira. Of course camry more powerful rite. But i dunno y i dun like to drive camry on highway. Maybe that car too smooth until i cant listen to the engine sound. I prefer listening to the engine sound cause it give me a natural rhythm for my driving style. HAHA

i'm using wira 1.5 a/b auto...i want to ask somting...is it true when using  auto gearbox which have 3 speed consume more fuel rather than 4 speed box...

n btw i manage to hit 165km/h while econ is OFF..is it normal i can reach further with stock engine config

thanx

wah, 165km/h for wira 1.5 with automatic gear box is fantastic... Specification only says 155km/h

hi guys
Wira 1999 1.3GLi (M) A/B (MMC ECU) here
All stock exept rims.

I have been battling high FC for a few months now. It increased dramatically and I cannot figure out why. cry.gif  I have not been keeping track of the mileage but a few days ago after taking advice from a few people I went ahead and did the following:

1. Change oil filter + oil (castrol)
2. Change spark plugs(proton)
3. Performed engine tuning
4. Changed air filter

These were done at EON service. After doing so I filled up the tank and got approx 360 km(City + H/way) before the orange light came on. Not much difference with or w/out air con. Thats pretty bad from what i've read here. Still the same prob. According to the proton mech, high FC is common for my model as the car is heavy.

Secondly, I would like to know from those who have got their engine tuned at proton before, how long did the process take and what was involved? Mine took less than 5 mins. He connected a MMC handheld device to the port under the bonet release lever and it showed my engine's rpm. Then he took a jumper wire and shorted some wires at the engine compartment, checked the device again and it was finished. Is that how its supposed to be? The tuning costed RM15 rclxub.gif

Third, when my fuel indicator needle is anywhere below 1/2 tank, and i stop at a traffic light and take off again or make a sharp turn, the needle would drop a little, as if it took up that much fuel to get the car moving. Is the float in the tank faulty?

I would appreciate any thoughts on the matters above. thanks
BTW I'm not heavy on the gas pedal, at least not since the FC increased. I try to keep it engaged in the highest gear with the least acceleration possible.

is your car consuming an abnormal amount of engine oil? do you have carbonized sparks after just 5-10K? that could affect your engine's performance in some way.
Under inflated tyres could also contribute to increased drag and fuel consumption.

The specification is not correct 1. My cousin's 1.5 AT EFI can go 170km/h

From what i understand and experienced, the PWR (Power) mode changes gear at higher RPM (and usually wont change to the top gear at all) - so you have more power and faster acceleration. Also the gearbox downshifts quicker when you slowed down

Whereas the ECN (Economy) mode will change gears as normal, using the most fuel efficent setup as possible, and often it wouldnt really downshift to the lower gear unless its really slow.

Any of you brothers did a CO2 check on your wira?

Went just now.. The mech couldnt get the CO2 lvl below 10.0
Says that sumwhere is leaking and have to do a top overhaul as my car is already 7 yrs . He sed normally wira's can get abt 0.05? which is like super low?!~

Did like tuning, a bottle of valve cleaner, air filter, petrol filter, sumthing in the distributor cap.. rm120 sweat.gif

Yeah, power mode basically the gear box shifts gears faster to increase the speed and also good for accelerating. About the usually won't change at the top gear at all only implies when you keep on press the pedal hard, if you drive normally, it will definitely go to the highest gear if the ECU detects that you aren't gonna pedal it further to efficient mode. This is base on my experience
