abit skeptical bout those CAI .. wont the engine or TB masuk water or moisture huh ? u know ler malaysia here rain quite frequently .. especially when the CAI were place infront of the bumper ...
anyone think bout this issue before ? imagine gaining 200bhp butt dyno power and ending up transplanting the whole engine?

wont masuk ? imagine it's raining like cats and dog's.. really heavy and you are doing 90 km/h, you tailgate a bus or any other car. Wont the water particle enter into your engine ? my logic thinking .. whenever there's suction force, it doesn't care how the hose is places, it will still suck in water particle.

simple example, if from down to top wont .. then what is the purpose for straw?

correct me if i'm wrong wink.gif

the straw u using ur mouth to suck den the water enter to ur mouth mah.. den ur air filter will suck as strong like u suck at straw? n the cai hose r not direct connect to ur air filter mah, it only out somewhere near ur filter to provide more cold air.

I did CAI on my car and it works fine especially at higher speeds, when air is travelling fast.

Imo, a wise person will not go above 70km/h when it raining like "cats and dogs". Even if a lil bit of water enters the intake opening, it will be stopped by the air filter. It's already 2 years of CAI in my car, and nothing's wrong with it. I even remove the air filter and check for any visible/obvious moistures after driving in a heavy rain, and there's none.

Dun forget, there are moist in the atmosphere too smile.gif

P/S: U need to clarify ur thoughts again about how straw works. It's not like the air intake hose is fully submerged in a water. U can suck in ur Cola to ur mouth because there's a pressure drop between the bottom of the straw (in ur drinks), and the top of the straw (in ur mouth). And with much greater fluid pressure at the bottom than the top, thus the Cola is pushed up into ur mouth.

i have something to confess. i was a ex-wira owner. a 1.5 GLI AUTO 2000. well after using for 5 years i encounter a huge problem which is my gearbox rosak at the first and second gear. haha. ref also cannot move. send it to the workshop and change a half cut 1.5 auto gearbox again for RM 1100 and the guy told me that you will come back soon haha. cuz it will spoil again. really sad having this problem. so to wira owners please check your gear fluid and take care of it if not once spoil will continue. i sold my wira for 15k haha so HID and speaker all gone. sad case

Depends on which type of setup u're on, open pod, or drop in. For open pod, some people just bought a heat insulated air hose, and connect it with one end at the front bumper, and another near (not to) the open pod filter.

As for drop in type, u need to connect the hose with one end at the front bumper, and another directly to the stock intake opening.

For Proton Wira efi type, it's difficult to do so because the stock intake opening is situated near the battery, which is a lame design imo. U need to remove the U shape intake hose below the air box, which is much of a hassle, because u need to remove the battery first, or even front bumper if u wanna make it easier.

I'm using original Wira bumper btw smile.gif
