Hi,

I decided to look around for a new laptop and surfed here.
To my surprise, a HP can be had for below RM2500.

Did the price of a HP laptop drop?
I can't remember the price of that brand to be that low.
It used to be way out of my budget which is always below RM2500.
2 years ago when I was shopping for a laptop, I never considered HP as they were way too expensive.
All I could afford was a brand like Acer.

So is it true that they had a drop in prices?
Does it mean that their quality has dropped?
Or are they now build in Malaysia so that is why it is cheaper.

Thanks

Electronic devices are becoming more and more mainstream, hence the prices have also decreased alot nod.gif
You can get a lot of laptop options now for RM2.5k nod.gif

Thanks for your input.

No I'm not seriously looking for a lappy now.
Just browsing.
To my surprise, HP is under my affordable list now.

I notice that in there was a durability test done on the various brands of laptops and HP was dead last!
Asus, Toshiba and Sony were top 3.

So should I consider buying a HP laptop or not?
It looks pretty bad.

I've been using a Sony for 5-6 years now and never ever had any problems with it.
Now I know Sony's are a few hundred bucks more expensive than other brands like Acer, HP, Asus etc but
it seems now I can get something of similar quality in Asus without paying a few hundred premium.

1. Preferred Brand
Any brands with at least 2 years warranty, good services of course.
2. Budget
Below RM2500.
3. Usage
Assignments, some gaming for games like dota 2,dead space 2.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size
Prefer 14".
If budget is allowable, ultrabook is preferred... otherwise just laptop with lighter weight.

For the Specs , if possible then it's going to be:-
(i) graphic with 2GB,
(ii) memory of 4GB RAM,
(iii) i5 processor (2nd/3rd gen).

p/s: If the budget isn't enough for all these, just tell me and I will try to lower a bit the specs that I had stated.
Thanks in advance.

Thx for the info! Am in a dilemma now...Are the ones on top significantly better than if i get the Lenovo y580 3630qm version, upgrade to 16gb ram, add 128gb SSD, which prob cost less than above? Are the LEnovo warranty voided if i upgrade?
