+1, if you're into gaming, then the Y480 would be the one to look out for nod.gif

If you want an i5 laptop capable of mid-level gaming, then:
14"
Dell Inspiron 14R (Special Edition), i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M(28nm Kepler)@RM2199[2.38kg], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm); backlit keyboard optional
Lenovo Z480, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M@RM2299, 4GB, 1TB(5400rpm) W7HB, colors: grey/red/blue

Use the remaining money for warranty extension nod.gif

Is it available here? Can't seem to find it in the HP online store, mind sharing a link if you have one?
Anyway, how much is your budget? hmm.gif

Unfortunately most 17" notebook are a lot more expensive than that, the only one within your budget range is this one:
17.3"
Lenovo Ideapad G780, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT630M + (1600x900)@RM2699[3.0kg], 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm)

Why not consider 15.6" notebooks bro?
They're relatively cheaper, yet packing quite a punch hmm.gif

In my view, the Envy 17 is not worth it... Like you said, its a time bomb laugh.gif
If I were you, I'd compromised and get a 15.6" notebook instead, its not like they're small anyway haha~
At least I get more or less the same power in terms of CPU and GPU, and also official warranty support
