Hi Peeps, searched through some old topics but didnt have any concrete answers.

I just bought a new body kit set and yet to install and am getting conflicted answers as to how to go about it best. Wanna ask pros here..

The workshop guy said I should install the kits first then only spray paint. His argument is that need to fit the kits properly first. My friend (he works at paint job shop) however, said should spray first then only install.

Wanna ask, what are the usual price in spraying the whole of front, rear bumper, side skirts and spoiler for solid white?

Any recommendation for good workshop with reasonable prices?

Someone quoted me RM1200-1500 for 'good' paint job and RM700-800 for 'standard' paint job. I think there's alot of con there...

And the guy who sold me the body kits said he can arrange for a paint job of RM400 for standard factory paint. Reliable based on the prices?

Please help sifus sifus. First time in doing this. Wanna do it right smile.gif

ur bodykit comes with double tape and apply to old bumper or fully customize bumper
if using double tape, just spray separately cos when u want to remove bodykit, the colour on the bumper still the same maa..not like half new colour n half old colour....

n for paint job i dont know lah, some says for cheap 1...after 1++ years the colour still go out...maybe got hit by small rock....hahahaha

p/s : just my opinion.....

I, too, am thinking of the best way to do my 3-year old car.

The original colour is still OK for a car this age, but not as brilliant as brand new one of course.

My dilemma is the same as TS; to paint the whole car along with the bodykit, or save the cost and paint just the kit.

But from what I've seen, most cars which did painting for just the kit, their original body colour and the newly painted kit weren't an exact match (even for a new car). There's always a slight variation.

Best would be to paint anew. But paint job quality comes to mind too. Decision, decision...

Probably that. But I've also seen cars with the same type of kit done a whole body painting, and it turned out OK (no distinguishable colour variation).

Speaking of which, is it possible to restore car body colour to its prime by waxing/polishing? What about respraying the lacquar alone instead of full painting, would that help too?

Is it? The workshop place tell me need to pasang first. Cz need to mould the kit to fit my car or something. Unless let him mould first then only take out and spray again... Hmm..

And on different colors, shouldnt be a problem gua. Cz I resprayed my bumper before due to accidents but no noticable color difference. So maybe the paint shop I went to is good?

But they quote me at least RM800-RM1500.

RM1500 can respray whole inspira??

Pasang first then only spray if the bodykit shop is not 100% sure the kit will fit and he feels need to do minor adjustment. After spray cannot adjust anymore.

Some will fit first, adjust, take off, then only go spray. Then again better service comes at higher cost.

Yeah the workshop said might need to do minor adjustments. Hm, so might go for fit then take off only spray le.

But how about the prices he quoted me? Reasonable? RM400 vs RM700-RM1500 is abit extreme difference. Surely one party wanna chiak me edi..

Best is let the workshop decide which they are more familiar and comfortable with. Worse is that you tell him what to do and he ends up making mistakes and scratching the paints when he is doing the adjustments on the kit.
