from my exprience, Recomended EO gred is JASO-MA / API-SF or SG with gred 15-50 10-40 10-50

Added on December 18, 2012, 11:19 amclutch will slip if use too tick eo, gear shifing not smooth cause by your clutch.i have the same issue last time when i ride LC, when use tick EO, hard to shift gear 1 to 2..but when i change to gred 10-40, i can feel very ringan but after few 800km, i feel my bike start heavy when run on highway. after try 15-50 with normal ride 110km/h, i manage to go til 1.2km without feel any weird feeling. 1500km i change eo.
*
ic. But isn't those 15W40, 15W50 and 10W40 hav higher API like API SL? So far i know those 20W50 EO with API SF/SG, others usually are SL/SH. But, Silkolene Super 4 and ValvolineĀ® 4-Stroke Motorcycle Oil have 10W-40 and they are API SF/SG but it's quite difficult to find these 2.

yesterday noobboy and I have a TT session, he did mention bout u biggrin.gif

no need respect, just all the things I read on internet I share.
The EO I bought when Parkson clearance, RM70 sold as RM30. Old stock.
Royal Purple also good, got some US race team use the oil. I would use it too, RM40.
Amsoil also good on paper, bought a few, but haven't try.

The worst I tried is Shell SAE40, used a month also the oil is clean, no carbon. Means little detergent and anti-oxidant. No good.

o, next time i have to look at those shopping mall to get good deals like u.

Some details of the royal purple:

Royal Purple’s API-licensed Synthetic Motor Oil combines premium base oils with proprietary additive technologies to create high performance motor oils that optimize engine performance. Royal Purple’s API-licensed motor oil delivers superior protection and improves performance in gasoline and diesel engines. Royal Purple’s API-licensed SN motor oil meets ILSAC GF-5 and Dexos1 performance requirements. shocking.gif

No special procedures are necessary when upgrading to Royal Purple. Royal Purple recommends waiting until the manufacturer’s first scheduled oil change in new gasoline and diesel engines before upgrading to Royal Purple.

Royal Purple motor oil is compatible with synthetic and conventional motor oils.

Performance Advantages:
Better wear protection--Enhanced additive technology prevents metal-to-metal contact beyond both Dexos1 and ILSAC GF-5 specs.
Increased fuel efficiency--A low coefficient of friction results in optimized fuel efficiency (the fuel economy of Royal Purple's 5W-30 meets the fuel economy requirements of a 5W-20 oil).
Better protection of the expensive catalytic emission system--Patented ZDDP additives optimize emissions catalyst system life.
Improved compatibility with fuels containing ethanol--Patented additive technology prevents the white sludge and lubrication starvation that can occur with 20% or higher ethanol fuel.
Superior corrosion protection--No rust observed in standard industry testing.

EO can last very long. Service interval of 3000km is sometimes too conservative. Need to remember, motorbike, oil, gas, metal etc is one big industry to make sure we spend money. We spend too much on oil for such a small bike.

1 liter EO, RM20~40. Car EO, 4 liter, RM60~90. Change interval, same.
1 tire, RM120. Car tire, same price each... what's wrong here?

Everything on bike also much more expensive compared to service a car, relatively to engine cc and size...

I just think we all should be wise consumer even when we use bike, and thinking that we save on petrol alone.
*
ya, totally agree with u. actually i'm not so agree with those who change their EO in 1000km or 1500km unless the oil is not good. If the EO is good enough, we dont have to change that frequent. Besides, frequent changing EO will harm the natural environment(i read from somewhere).

Ya, the oil and tyre for our bikes is almost equal/more expensive compare to car especially the tyre. The car tyre Goodyear 185/xx/14 for my iswara goes for rm155 only, i guess my rear tyre Maxxis 110/70/17 is not cheap tho.

RP is API-SL to API-SN certified.

LC use flat tappet... again, please stick to API-SG.
EO with API rating greater than SG will burn through your flat tappets and cam lobes.

On 4T bikes, the problems is most likely to come from engine head when the wrong EO is used.
Shifting gear is just a mild to near useless way to judge an EO quality.
*
yaya, that's y i meantioned i'll stick to silkolene coz it's SF/SG icon_rolleyes.gif thanks for the confirmation again.

For trades request, maybe this is not the best place. Some LYN policy violation or something. Just PM the fella and see if he is nice enough to sell you a few bottles at bulk price.
*
oh oh..thanks for remind. paiseh ya.

but the price difference is really huge between 12 and 24 bottles like u said. hmm.gif

dear all bros, i need your opinions on eo/bike:
1) let's say after i changed my eo, and i found that the gear shifting is not good after i've run around 100km(or may b less than that). Is it too early to judge the eo not fits my bike?
2) or is it i have to run few hundred km 1st so that my engine is used to the eo only then i make a judgement?
3) or is it i will know whether the eo fits my bike or not after may be 50-100km(or may b less than that)?

thanks in advance.

Once you put in, and gear changing not smooth, that's it, it won't get any better.

ic. that means dont have to run till a certain mileage only can make judgement. really learnt alot here.

My shifting is getting worse day by day. Now after i've shift to N and the cluth engaged, it's difficult to shift to 1st gear. i have to press the shift pedal a few times to shift to 1st gear or i have to release the cluth 1st and then press again and shift to 1st gear. doh.gif

haiz, i hope i can change the eo to a new one as soon as i can do it.

that's terrible... before change EO is much better?
Better just forget it, find the EO you want, and get it over with. It's not worth the pain for RM16...

Added on December 20, 2012, 4:51 pmIn some cases, when warm up, or really hot, gear shifting might improve a little bit, but returning from gear 1 or gear 2 to neutral is difficult.
*
ya, before change eo is ok but it's terrible after change to castol activ. I'm so desperate to change the eo now.

bout the gear shifting from high gear to low gear, it's true from what u said. so usually i'll try not to shift down during my ride, i'll only shift down when i'm near to stop. The 1, 2 and N is really rough for my case, they are not smooth at all.

I heard this a while back, Suzuki bikes have better gear. Yamaha one always sensitive to EO. But, I think there is little truth, just help spreading rumors here. tongue.gif
Anyhow, downshift to gear 2 while rolling is ok. Then drop from gear 2 to neutral is also easier while bike is rolling. Standing bike is harder to drop neutral IMO.
What oil you plan to change?
*
ya, i feel that my RG gear shifting is much much better. Besides, i never be specified in my eo last time when i'm using RG. So it seems like RG is running in all kinds of eo thumbup.gif

i plan to get Silkolene Super 4(API SF/SG & JASO MA/MA2). There are 10W40 and 20W50 from their website, so i think i'm going for 10W40. But if i couldn't find it then i think i'll go for Motul 3000 20W50(API SG & JASO MA). Motul other viscocity will have higher API, so i think i wont take any eo which is not SF/SG. Any recommendation from you?

EO rating max 40 better for rather low mileage bike. 50 when high temp may not reach critical part like cam lobe and under piston dome. Stay with API SG. and 40 visco. If scared fake EO, find motor parts supply buy EO.
*
ic. i'll try to find the eo visco 40 with API SG. Actually i went to a few spare part shops(car) but they didn't sell motorcycle eo. Bike spare part shop is more difficult to find than the cars spare part shops. I gonna ask noobboy to give me some directions. biggrin.gif
