Need your opinions on my itinerary
My Simple itinerary Sept 2012:
12 Sept, Wed –Arrive in Osaka (8am) Places to Cover: Sumiyoshi Taisha Osaka Castle Osaka Museum of History DenDen Town Dotonbori Staying in: First Cabin Midosuji-Namba
13 Sept, Thurs-Osaka Places to cover: Universal Studio Kaiyukan Umeda Sky Building Maybe Dotonbori (Near to Hotel)
14 Sept,Fri - Kyoto Places to cover: Kinkakuji Temple Nijo Castle Kyoto Imperial Palace Kiyomizu Dera Temple Heian Shrine Gion Pontocho Alley Staying in: Guest House Jalan-Do
15 Sept, Sat – Nara (Day Trip) Places to cover: Nara Park Todaiji Temple
16 Sept, Sun –Tokyo Places to cover: Harajuku Shibuya Shinjuku Staying in: Khaosan Tokyo Ninja
17 Sept, Mon – Tokyo Places to cover: Tsukuji Odaiba Ginza
18 Sept, Tues – Tokyo Places to cover: Ueno Akihabara Roppongi
19 Sept, Wed – Tokyo Places to cover: Hakone
20 Sept, Thurs– Tokyo Places to cover: Disney Sea
21 Sept , Fri–Tokyo Asakusa Going back to KL from Haneda Airport (1130pm)
There's some things I need to confirm?
1) Is my itinerary doable? Especially in Kyoto whereas I want to cover loads of places? As for Tokyo, I'll just go with the flow, have some places that need to go, and some others can skip.
2) As per my itinerary, do I need a JR PASS? I plan to take Shikansen from Kyoto to Tokyo anyway. I read SUICA is more advisable in Tokyo than the JR PASS.
3) Any more comments or suggestion is warmly welcomed.

QUOTE(PsyCHZZZ @ Aug 27 2012, 12:49 PM) Here's some of my personal opinions on your Kyoto itinerary - 1. I think your itinerary is too packed as the places you listed are far apart from one another. For eg. Kinkakuji is north of Kyoto and Kiyomizudera is down southwest and Nijo-jo & Kyoto Imperial Palace is located central of Kyoto. You'll really need to be pin point accurate about the schedule of the trains / bus to cover all these places in a day and even that, I don't think it's possible. Plus, they all close around 4pm so you better start your day really early. 2. If you're thinking of renting bicycles and cycling to these places to save cost and time... don't. Summer is wayyyyyyy too hot & humid in Kyoto and you'll find that you need to park the bicycle at designated areas which most of them are not free. Taking the subway or using the 1-day 500yen bus pass is much better. 3. You'll need to do advance booking to visit the interior of Kyoto Imperial Palace. (http://sankan.kunaicho.go.jp/english/guide/kyoto.html) Thanks for the feedback..appreciate it..might skip some places is Kyoto then, as my main purpose is Tokyo..how about the JR Pass? Any thought if I should buy it here? Coz thinking of experiencing Shinkansen at least once from Kyoto-Tokyo..and in Tokyo will be using SUICA rite?

QUOTE(PsyCHZZZ @ Aug 28 2012, 08:41 AM) I don't recommend getting the JR Pass if you're only going to travel on the Shinkansen once (Kyoto-Tokyo) and plan to use the JR Pass for normal train commute.
The cheapest JR Pass will set you back 28,000 yen and with that pass you cannot take the fastest shinkansen (Nozomi). You can only take the regular ones.
I would recommend - - buy regular tickets / day passes when you're traveling in Kyoto/Nara/Osaka. - get the Nozomi shinkansen ticket from Kyoto-Tokyo (Total:¥ 13,720 one way). - buy the SUICA card and use it for commute and travels in Tokyo.
That shouldn't work out to more than 28,000 yen and you get to ride on the Nozomi.
Take note you should buy your shinkansen ticket earlier (preferably a few days) as these are reserved seats and they occasionally gets sold out. It's not an open ticket so you'll need to specify the date and time.
Thanks. Your opinions has really been very helpful. Can't wait to go to Japan!!

QUOTE(e-jump @ Sep 15 2012, 09:51 AM) You can buy shinkansen tix at any shinkansen station. If you want a preserved seat, you may consider buy in advance, but i dont think this week is major holiday. If you want to be cheap, you can try first-come-first-serve non-reserved car at 1-5. If theres empty seat, u get the seat Thx..appreciate it

QUOTE(PsyCHZZZ @ Oct 4 2012, 12:14 PM) To future travellers to Tokyo. Seems like now you can get free WiFi on some JR train stations. All you need to do is to register your e-mail for first time and then you can get free WiFi access for 3 hours. Just need to relogin after that to extend. Check out this PDF for more information- http://www.jreast.co.jp/e/pdf/free_wifi_02_e.pdffree wifi, Tokyo So nice.i was struggling finding places with wifi outside of the hotel..

QUOTE(Oblivionz @ Oct 12 2012, 05:23 PM) I'm so sorry!!!! I totally forgotten about emailing you your pictures. Please provide me your email address and i will email those pictures to you. I was busy after the japan trip and a lot of things happen. Do you still remember I picked up a good fortune paper at asakusa there with you? Apparently i do not know why but it has the opposite effect. Instead of good fortune, lots of bad things happened and even my samsung galaxy s2 the LCD screen has broke...... sigh....... No worries bro..later I PM you...busy also..LOL..no bad things happen to me..no good things also..I should be patient perhaps just as the fortune paper said.. .. time to change to new phone bro..then gud things will come?
