Lol. Since you are busy with work, i think I don't want to change too much of your schedule. Since you are going to Asakusa on 21th September(Friday), let's meet up there. Will check this forum as well.

See you soon.

^ I just came back from my Japan trip a few hours ago. Rented a car to drive around Nagano. Best day I ever had in Japan. I've only driven for a month in Malaysia so I'm a complete newbie and it was still very easy for me to drive. Nagano is pretty rural though, it might be much more difficult to drive in the cities (though trains+subway in the major cities are extremely well connected so I don't really see the need to drive).

Would really really recommend a countryside rural drive. Fantastic experience.

Nice! Good to know. biggrin.gif
I won't be driving to Nagano though. We won't be driving around in the city but we will be getting a car from Tokyo and driving back to the airport to drop it off.

I guess it's very easy to drive around the quieter towns. Any experience in driving on the highways?

hi guys,

been searching for info regarding airport limousine bus to asakusa stn since will be staying in khaosan tokyo samurai. But seems like no bus after 11.30pm.

AA arriving at 1030pm on a Tuesday probably still got chance to catch the train. But in case of delay, then jialat already. Anyone know if there is a bus at that time?

also, from given info to apply visa, realize need 6k in savings account but if not reach, will the money in FD enough to justify? around 15k inside..salary only come in end of this month..hehe

thanks.

No. just walk-in. Prebook only for Tobu express freepass to Nikko.

And for those going to Hakone (Mt Fuji view) prebook the Odakyu-Hakone freepass is a must too (Regretting din get the freepas and spending so much on the train fares)

Hey guys. Does anyone here know how to read Hyperdia's directions?

I've attached an example. This is how I read it: Take the Keikyu Airport Exp (which costs 400yen) to Shinagawa. From Shinagawa, take the JR Yokosuka Line to Tokyo, change train to JR Sobu Line to get to Bakurocho. The latter part costs 160 yen. Is this correct?

Thanks, RegentCid! Yea, I'm gonna bum at the airport until the first train opens. Try to sleep maybe.

Also, to share to ppl of this website, http://www.mobilephonejp.com/. It's a mobile phone rental; one week costs 2900yen. Good for ppl who don't own a 3G phone, nor want the hassle to apply for one there.

My understanding is that you can receive local and international calls, and receive/send emails (Japanese folks sends emails rather than texts) for free. If you wanna call out domestic, you have to get the additional prepaid card (2600 yen). Could someone shed a light on whether my understanding is correct? As in, I can rent the phone without the prepaid card and still be able to send emails out, and receive calls for free?

Other mobile renting services: https://www.globaladvancedcomm.com/order/index.html. Can rent iphone and this android phone, but pretty pricey. Comes with unlimited internet and all the bells though.

My shortlisted place in Tokyo as follows:

1. (reach shinjuku in the afternoon)
Shinjuku
Harajuku
- Meiji Jingu Shrine & Yoyogi Park
Shibuya
[Stay around Shinjuku Station?]

2.
Sensoji Temple
- Nakamise Dori
Ueno Park
Akihabara
Ginza
Imperial Palace
- Imperial Palace East Garden (Kyoko Higashi Gyoen)
Tsukiji Market
Tokyo Tower (Nightview)
[Stay around Ginza/Ueno? for 2 days]

3.
Disney Resort
[same hotel before this]

4.
Sightsee Rainbow Bridge
Odaiba - Gundam

>> Evening time take Shinkansen train back to Osaka and overnight at airport.

So, does my suggestion look convenient? Please advice on where should I base in these days in Tokyo.

U can do that but pls be informed that the Odakyu free pass counter is located inside Odakyu Mall and that mall only open ~ 9am and not sure what time the counter open. By the time you walk in and buy the ticket and make your trip, you be arriving in the afternoon dy.. That time view of mt Fuji will be bad - mist & cloudy covering your view. For best view of mt Fuji, better go early in the Morning.

I decided just to use my stored PASMO card rather than waiting for the counter and kena ~ 6000+ yen for the whole return trip bcos I can't wait for the counter to open.. Best is to visit Shinjuku'as Odakyu mall and get the ticket a day earlier
