Thanks fr this info. RM15 is so cut throat and ridiculous.

Hope someone that just did their japan visa can confirm this whether they reallly need a letter or the old method will do.
*
Trust me and e-jump. We both applied this yr and the bank confirm this. Otherwise will waste ur time to get the letter and resubmit.

My visa approved as per what my agent emailed me. biggrin.gif

Their website not accurate. Luckily my travel agent is very up to date.

Photocopy of passport? Didn't know bout this.

All the while memang need hotel confirmation receipt or email one. Flight itinerary also need.

Did you ask them if your CTC bank statement is acceptable? No need letter?

Any difference buying the Disneyland ticket online or in Japan itself?
*
Nope. Price wise is the same unless they have an online promo.

However, if you buy both disneysea + disneyland ticket together, there will be a promo price. This one can directly buy at Lawson's. They have the disney ticket machine there. Not sure if the promo is available when buying at Disney there itself.

To those that have visited Japan,

I've bought a flight ticket to travel to Japan on April 2013. I'll be arriving in Osaka and departing back from Tokyo.
However, my main concern would be the radiation level in both Osaka and Tokyo. I've checked out in google on the recent radiation level in both of the cities and it was rated at a safe level as in it is parallel as New York City. But having said, every now and then I'll hear news from people stating their female friends that has just came back from Tokyo were detected to have a high radiation level in their body and was advised by the doctors not to conceive in 2-3 years.

Hence, for those that have recently been there, do you mind telling me on the current condition in Japan. Thanks
*
Well, was in Tokyo in Sept 2011. Feeling fine as usual. Never got sick (but then again i'm a strong person who doesn't get sick very often, even if i'm sick, will be ok within 2-3 days, never more than that).

However, not sure of my radiation level though.

If you were so worried by the radiation level, why did you buy the ticket in the first place? If so, might as well cancel your trip yea. Life's short, there's just too many things to do than worrying bout radiation level.

FYI, even if you're flying or using your phone or any electrical items, you are already exposed to low levels of radiation.

Edited to add: My friend with her husband and 6 yr old kid also chose to go back to Tokyo (after residing with her british husband in UK for the past few years).

For your friend's case, it's hard to say if she already has a radiation level before she left for Japan coz i bet that she didn't even get checked before she left right? So it's really hard to judge if she got it from Tokyo or from daily usage of the items that she use or the place that she works at.

Yea i know right.

For all they know, their level radiation level while still in Malaysia already high, they also dunno, due to them not checking it before they go overseas (just for comparison if really the radiation in Japan is high or not).

Really depends on where you stay la. If you don't mind staying at hostels, then will be cheap for dorm rooms.

QUOTE(Oblivionz @ Oct 9 2012, 09:22 PM)
Again, it depends on what you want. I'm the type of person who goes out all day and only come back at night, so a hostel for me is good enough, and i rarely use their facilities since i'm going out all day and i do not want to waste my money on facilities that I do not use.

I stayed in a hostel called Hotel Mikado in Osaka, and the cost is around more than RM300 for 4 nights for a single bed private room. It is near the dobutsuen-mae subway station or JR shin-inami railway station, so it was quite convenient for me to go to Namba or Shinsekai or Tennoji.

For tokyo is was a hostel called Aizuya Inn, near Minami-Senju station, cost is around more than RM500 for 4 nights. Of course it is a bit expensive compare to the one i stayed in Osaka.

So the whole accommodation cost me less than RM900 for 8 nights, and my colleague who have been to Japan said that it can be cheaper if you stay in a shared room.
*
OMG, i've totally missed out on Hotel Mikado! sad.gif so cheap at 1980yen per night. I've already booked a private room with private toilet (common shower room) and kitchen somewhere near the same area as well for around RM150 per night. Double some more! Sigh. I'm gonna book mark Hotel Mikado's website. Thanks!! BTW, is this place as clean as Aizuya Inn?

^5 on Aizuya Inn... biggrin.gif My favourite place to stay in Tokyo, and also cheapest it being single rooms. Abit far from city but trains are so convenient there so it doesn't even matter.

The cleanliness there in hotel mikado is acceptable. I like the fact where they provides free towels, dun have to use my own towel for bathing. On my first night in that hotel i encounter a Japanese monk in the elevator with the traditional clothes and all those. Really wanted to take a picture of him.......

Aizuya Inn is OK i guess. The only thing i do not like is that the train station is a bit far from the inn, is feels almost like 10 mins walk from the inn to the train station. At first i thought it was OK.....until when i came back tired from walking all day outside, and then again need to walk from the station to the inn, i was like huh........ and i was carrying a bag full of figurines and other stuff lol!

Aizuya Inn provide free breakfast, which is very very delicious! It consists of 2 slices of bread, 1 bun with strawberry jam (those jam are really nice!), a small bowl of soup and a cup of coffee. 1 bite of the bun and you will feel refresh!
*
Thanks for the review for hotel mikado.

Yup i agree that aizuya inn is quite far from the train station. Yes it's 10 mins.... if you don't use backpack but luggage, my god that time i almost CRIED walking from the inn to the train station on the way to the airport. My hands were hurting so bad. But now smart dy, got myself 1 large backpack and 1 medium backpack dy... proper ones. biggrin.gif

If hotel mikado is comparable to aizuya inn in terms of cleanliness and privacy, then it will be a good pick. Just too bad i've already booked my accommodation in osaka weeks ago. But then still feel abit geram coz i can save 50% lor! @$*#(&*@(# BUt oh well, next time la! biggrin.gif

I only put in money into my account a few days before apply visa so that it is over RM 6k, the recommended value as advised by LYNers here.

I show them 3 months statement still and plus FD statements to backup. It's my salary account so they will see a lot of transaction inside..  laugh.gif
*
Actually, if your FD has more than 6k in it, no need to show your savings a/c dy. Any account with that amount and more will be enough. If say 1 account dun have 6k and above, then you show 2 account balances.

wish can do that..but no budget..
no..everything already done for malaysia part..like visa, flight ticket..the missing part is when the mastermind withdraw from the trip last minute..
as he the one who need to arrange living, transport at japan..now these 2 days we need to carve to settle down the planning..
and unfortunately we're unable to make it done..so everybody need to cancel this trip.. will arrange for next time..surely next time.. haha
*
Wow, can't believe you give up so fast.

Planning is so easy, you just need that much of a time to plan, just read everything slowly.

You should just go and forget about your friend.

Japan's a really cool place.

QUOTE(Lacersan @ Oct 19 2012, 03:40 PM)
Love you guys for the great (free) info!

Will return the favour when I get back from Japan smile.gif

But first a few questions!

1. I'm planning to go to TDL and Sea. Will I be able to finish seeing/riding everything in 2 days? Going to purchase multipass, should I buy online or buy when I get there? Will it be cheaper there? Is it a good idea to stay at a hotel nearby Disney? Already exchanged 20,000yen at 0.039..hehe

2. So i came across this unlimited rail pass that goes for about RM1,100 per person. How much does a regular ticket to and fro the airport cost?

Does the train operate after 12am?

Is this the only place I can buy the japan rail pass?
http://www.japan-rail-pass.com/
Any other cheaper place I can buy?

Seems like a no brainer to pay for courier service to Malaysia, eventhough I need it only when I'm in Japan.

This Japan trip is getting more and more expensive  rclxub.gif (the more I find out)
Total costs so far:
Return Tickets: RM1250
Disney L&sea: RM400
Food: ????
Shopping: ????
Lodging: ????

what else did i miss...
*
1. You can get both tickets from Lawson's from the ticket machine. If dunno how to operate, please ask the workers there. They'll help you. Last i got the tix for both places at 10,000 yen, which has a small discount.

2. Please check Jorudan's website or hyperdia website for the price.

Also, didn't you read what menmissed has posted above? Please read the thread carefully before asking questions.

IMO, Food wise - same price as japanese food in malaysia. It's NOT expensive.

Lodging - can find cheap one, GOOGLE.

Shopping - Their premium outlet is so cheap compared to our 50% discounts of american goods like Gap, Banana Republic and what not.

Stop whining about how expensive Japan is. If yes, please dun go yea. biggrin.gif

Altho i'm a kiam siap person - altho not as kiam siap as Stimix (LOL), I don't feel Japan is expensive, it's comparable to Europe.

If expensive - I think Switzerland is expensive. Breakfast for RM200....

i'm still wondering how stimix can go there so cheap only.......

Coz he always manage to find super cheap food (like 200yen or 300 yen is it? Forgot) and also he didn't actually enter disneyland....... just take pictures outside. tongue.gif Not sure if he did enter 1 or 2 paid attractions or not.....

Osaka is south, hokkaido north.  hmm.gif

You only have 9 days for all these places. U reckon you have enough time to enjoy all the sights? I suggest you probably just cover Tokyo + Osaka only. But then again, still not enough time for both.

I'm heading to Osaka for 7 nights next monday onwards. Already damn fully packed my itinerary...

You heading to Tokyo?

shocking.gif ......9 days oso not enough?
*
I didn't keep my old itinerary coz no use of it after that.

Anyway, 1st trip to tokyo - i spent 7 nights there. I went to all the main areas like Akihibara, Roponggi, Asakusa, Hakone, etc. U can try www.wikitravel.org. The days were ngam ngam enough for me.

Edited to add: Coz disney for both side, already take 2 days each and hakone trip also 1 day.

2nd trip to Tokyo also 7 nights - that one is mou liu trip do nothing there.

3rd trip to Osaka - also 7 nights. Will be side tracked to Kyoto (day trip), Nara (day trip) & Kobe (day trip). The rest exploring osaka like nobody's business.

Next trip to Japan would be to Hokkaido.... but just thinking of it la. No real plans yet. Also thinking of spending 7 nights there...

Really wth wei....... So good at saving money for your trips or you just damn rich?
I'm guessing you're the type that spends most of the time there shopping?
Been playing this trip since 2 months ago but still haven't sort out everything yet. Luckily not flying till next year.
*
Not this comment again.

Ppl keep asking me if i'm rich? No I'm not rich, i'm just good in managing my finances. Like REALLY GOOD.

No, I don't shop unnecessarily. I only shop when i'm overseas and I always pick sales season hence getting really crazy bargains.

Gap jeans for RM120..... bargain or what? In KL, it's easily RM250 leh. Plus, I'm not those girls that like to prada, gucci, loewe.... I'm currently using a handbag brand called Nanninni from Italy. Leather but only RM450. Bargain or not?!?!?! And damn nice ok the leather, other brands are like RM5k la, RM10k la... sorry not into that. I'm looking for items worth buying and worth using. biggrin.gif 'Nuff said.

STOP SAYING I"M RICH LOR!

Edited to add: Planning a trip is easy. U just need to put EFFORT. I finished my plan within a week but of course must put your concentration to it 100%. If not, give u 10 yrs to plan also won't finish.

That's what we are concern with.

You should really check your air ticket. It should say that you are arriving at KIX. That's the abbreviation for Kansai Airport.
