Actually u need get approval from MPSJ by submitting your renovation plan and relevant document. Once you get the approval from MPSJ, u can start your construction already. Have you done that already? If not you need to get an architect or civil & structural engineer to get the approval for you.
About your neighbor, i think he will agree once you have all this thing ready.

Obviously no one going to violate your area during renovation, as long as they keep it clean and tidy during the process, i dont see there's a problem not to let them renovate their property...

That is the point. Do I need to ask for your permission to sh*t in my toilet just because you might smell my dunk from your house? No right? I have not heard that you need neighbour's concensus for the renovation for your own house.

If you do not extend the exterior, you dont need to get approval from neighbor nor local council. But since you wanted to extend the backyard, of course it will causing some problem to the neighbor unless u dont plan to hack wall to connect the steel bar and exactly. But still the local council rules, you have to get approval from the neighbor (both if your house is intermediate).

I think most ppl would just inform instead of ask. if neighbours indicate 'ok' then u tell them you will get their signature..If they give you any indication of a 'no' just inform them that you will be doing what and what..dont even have to tell them that you need their approval..

Anyway, may i know why they give you a blunt NO. Is there are reason? fengshui thing or air space or that you will be blocking their view or sunlight where they dry clothes and such maybe you can give them a different solution..cannot be so teruk la

im saying violating other neighbour area....if you are renovating the area which is under your own...ppl wont giv a damn about it even u wan to build a 10 storey high public toilet to ease u to poopoo......

Example-
a lot of probelem occurs especially the fences between terrace houses, the fence is in between both house and both families are sharing it, if a party ask to renovate it, they should get the permission first

I suggest you go MPSJ and ask. As required by MPSJ, to renovate your own area, and in order to get renovation permit from MPSJ, one of the document you need is approval letter from neighbour...

HI Astar,

The thing is even MPSJ needs my neighbour approvals for them to approve my renovation plans...which i have already done all that...thx for ur opinion and suggestions anyway...

but after making calls..the MPSJ person said he himself will come over and go nex door together with us to speak with neighbour...

Hi Crafts,

im really not trying to get into trouble here...even before i renovate i already having this kind of neighbour which clearly does even have any sense of humour...

what kind of damage can it get if i were to renovate and something happens because my contractor signs it off by his own...?

haha...dont scare me man...!!!

Hi kean,

my renovation is clear that i dont even touch my neighbour's property or land at all...not even a slight hacking on their property..its all on my side only..

and in the letter that i get from MPSJ for neighbour's approval...its stated clearly that if there is anything wrong example (dirty, damaging their property or whatsoever happen to them, its my responsibility to fix it and i bear the cost...i agree with that completely....

Still...NO...

Please clarify to me...what is the difference..?

and please dont state to me anymore of sunlight problem..because after stating the diff...u tell me..is there any diff..?
