As the next generation of Apple mobile products ramp up for a late 2012 release, it’s not the iPhone 5 that’s getting the most press this week, it’s the iPad Mini. A device that’s not yet been revealed or even confirmed to be real, but is gathering its strength to capture the imaginations of couch-sitters across the nation nonetheless. An iPad Mini, that being a device that sits in-between the iPhone and the iPad for screen space, will be make for everybody to use everywhere, but will tend specifically to the Apple iCloud-connected home.



This next-level device nearly-handheld device very well could be a rule-breaker for Apple in that it’ll have a smaller screen and not quite the same pixel density of the “Retina quality” displays we’ve seen on the iPad 3 and the new MacBook Pro. This model iPad will be made to be so inexpensive that it’ll be much more difficult for people to say no to simply going to an Apple store and picking one up than it’s ever been before!

A smaller iPad will be perfectly sized for kids, will be great for tossing in one’s purse, and might even fit into your back pocket.



But why would Apple break their one rule, the one that says that they make only a few products and make them all well? They’ve already begun to expand beyond that limit with the MacBook Pro line. There’s a new MacBook Pro 2012 model as well as a Retina quality display-having MacBook Pro. There’s also more than one kind of MacBook Air out at the moment, different generations on the market all at the same time, and for a while you were able to purchase the iPad, iPad 2, and iPad 3 in the online Apple store all in the same basket.

So Apple will do the following, and of course this is just my hypothesis: they’ll fulfill their destiny, that being to create a tablet device (the iPad Mini) that’ll be inexpensive enough to produce that they’ll be able to work with not only a much more vast cross-section of users across the world, but with students as well. An iPad Mini inexpensive enough for a classroom to buy for students to use in-room day to day is a next-level winner for Apple across the United States, and possibly across the world.

Not sure how true Apple will going to come out an iPad mini but if base on the price tag, it should be a lower end specs compares to the normal iPad.

U paying more for an outdated iPad 2 tablet with smaller screen and new Lightning port. Great for those new in Apple products.

If with retina display, i will buy it.

Rumor says that it won't have the same Retina display as they want to price it lower.
It will be a watered down version of the New iPad and having a bigger screen than the iPod.
The pricing will be the key of whether the iPad Mini will sell or not.

The reason iPad mini out is to beat the Kindle fire cos it threatened iPad's share market. 20%+ out of 49% android tablet are from kindle fire. So I guess it should be price around 200. Seriously never ever seen any kindle fire here at Malaysia how come their volume can be so high. Anyone seen 1 before?

iPad market share keep dropping since the introduction of the low cost Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire in the US.

Anyway, the new iTouch is priced at 199, if iPad Mini is 199 too, expect for bad or maybe no camera, slow processor and no retina.

the new itouch is 299 la.. i think ipad mini might be 249 or 299 as well..but only 8gb.. cant imagine it price any higher or lower with better spec.

From the pricing above, it would mean 8gb wifi starts around rm799 and 8gb 3G is around 1199? Hmmm 16gb onwards it will be taking over the price of iPad 2.. Does this means iPad 2 will drop price? If its the same price.. Which one would ppl go for? A 7 inch iPad mini or 10 inch iPad 2 for 1199? I suspect mini might come with a retina display in this case,. Or better processor..

Sorry forgot to add pricing is based on my assumption .. Cos pricing is in Germany .. Vat is around 19% .. After deducting it we will get around 200 euro which is around 250+ usd.. Hence I think it will be priced at 249 usd .. All subsequent model is 100 usd more .. And I round up the price to 99 at the back

However assuming that there is no tax cut.. Then iPad mini 16gb wifi will be priced at 349 euro which is around 1499 after rounded.. Who would pay 1499 for a smaller screen when u can get iPad 2 wifi 16gb for 1199 only?

If its USD199 (RM699) for 8GB, I will take off my pants at Midvalley Machine Shop for 5 minutes. Apple never sells a product without a margin. They will never resort to desperation like Google or Amazon.

Plus tax..plus profits..plus..plus..Apple is so stupid (greedy?). If they had priced it closer to the Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire, it would have blown Google and Amazon out of the lower priced 7 inch table market.
