Hi guys, just got an used unit, but i can't seem to root the phone.

Baseband :19100DXLPA
Kernel: 3.0.15-19100DXLPB-CL709089 dpi@DELL151#3
Build : IML74K.DXLPB

Downloaded Odin and the corresponding kernel, which is 'CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXX_LPB-v5.2-CWM5-PROPER', did all the steps, but couldn't root it.

HELP ?

that is xxlpb, not dxlpb, suggest u install speedmod kernel. it is stock kernel but with better battery life, and no headache trying to find correct kernel version for your ROM

http://touristinparadise.blogspot.com/2012...d-speedmod.html

get the odin version from there, flash as PDA. choose the K3-27B version, since DXLPB is 4.0.3 smile.gif

sure work biggrin.gif
think it's not the problem with the kernel file. using odin3 version 3.04. My phone doesn't show up in id:com. I've installed kies as well. when i plug in the usb cable, the phone will charge, but it won't show up in my computer. Is the phone picky about the type of cable ? I am using a chapalang cable

restarted my computer as well. usb cable is plugged to the main port, not to a hub.

Make sure Kies is closed when odin is opened. And we normally use odin 1.85 for s2,dunno if that would make a difference.

weird. can your pc detect ur phone? as in can u use windows explorer to browse your files?

uninstall kies, install this
http://drivers.softpedia.com/progDownload/...oad-170044.html

This package provides installation files for SAMSUNG USB Driver for Mobile Phones revision 1.5.6.0 made by SamHaLeKe, XDA developer. Drivers are for Galaxy S, SII, SIII and ALL other SAMSUNG Android Phones.

How to install:
1.uninstall previous drivers (control panel)
2.reboot
3.install new drivers
4.reboot!!
5.plug in your device and have fun!
*thats the readme for the driver*
connect ur phone after that, wait till it auto install some stuff, once successfull, then start odin 1.85 and see wheter it turns yellow.

Could there be a setting in my phone that's preventing Windows from reading it ? USB debugging is checked.
I've tried 3 different cables with 3 different computers (XP and Windows 7). The phone could charge when the cable is plugged in, just not reading the data. shakehead.gif

When you connect to pc, try go to settings, more, then usb utilities, press connect. If that doesn't work to at least see your files, then your cable got something wrong I guess. But can charge so I guess this should work.

So i resolved the problem by flashing cwm and busybox through recovery. No cable needed. After that I flashed Jro03h's JB rom. Are there better JB roms out there ?
