yup...in order for your to root, go find a safe kernal first...for ICS..there are no safe kernal up until now...well, except for a couple of kernal version in which I also dunno..the best thing is wait for sammy to release a newer version of ICS because now XDA members are working with sammy to rectify the brick/super brick problems affecting notes users.

I've personally downgraded to GB as my ICS version is not that good and I've tried rooting the ICS but got into all sorts of problem..more info...ask cikgu chan...
