QUOTE(Grimm @ Nov 25 2012, 08:57 AM) These guys are real nutters. Why the f*** won't they allow more stockists to take on their range? I'm finding it a hard time looking for Imperial stuff in Australia, W T F. cool story broThey know they're not good in marketing and building up the brand. But they're very picky over which retailers carry their range. It just doesn't make any business sense. One possibility is they're not in the business for the sake of profiteering. Maybe this is just a side pet project they do, and want to keep this brand pretty elite and exclusive. That's real shitty for users like us though, we got no physical stores to go and have a "look and feel" of the 300-dollar jeans we're getting, or the 250-quid pair of shoes we'll be buying. All I know is, one day I plan to open up a boutique - not sure in Malaysia or Australia, but I'll carry all these hard-to-find brands. Bloody Jil Sander, Paul Smith, Raf Simons, Iron Hearts, Blue in Green, Imperial, APCs, Wings+Horns, Quoddy, some Yuketen shit, etc, etc. There's a f***in' void in the industry, where we can't get all this shit over here. They're all over stores in North America, Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Korean, and even bloody China, but we... can only buy online - which is such a miserable shame. If anyone here is smart enough, has good business sense, knows how to make connections and have some capital, they'd be smart enough to copy my idea and make it a reality quick - or I'm going to do it in 5 - 7 years time. And when I do, it'll be huge!! |

When I first got my Samurai I thought the extra fabric at the rivets were a kind of defects.... so I went and trim it as much as possible with a pair of small scissors.... manatau it's actually part of the design

QUOTE(giotto @ Dec 12 2012, 10:37 AM) Just in case you guys wanna know, Esprit is selling some selvedge jeans too. IIRC, RM 399 for a pair. I didn't try them on, but if you guys are free can pop by and check them out. I saw them at 1 Utama. Thanks for info... but for that kind of price I'd rather top up another 90 bucks and get a pair of APC PS from Harvey IMHO |

oh my... I did not realize Thailand has it's own selvedge denim industry.... I dont mean tailoring or making a pair, I mean an industry that produces the denim itself...
makes me wonder if those fake LVC repro sold at BKK are using these material... They make their selvedges in all hues and colors.... according to their website 50% are for local use while the rest exported http://www.fairtextile.com/index.php/company » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « If the price of these materials are much cheaper than japanese denim I would sure like to bring in some and start my own label lolz This post has been edited by unig: Dec 16 2012, 04:50 PM |

QUOTE(skystrike @ Dec 16 2012, 06:20 PM) yah and they dont even need those vintage toyoda looms lolzwell if u got it for a reasonable price then should be OK lolz I dunno but my evil mind is thinking something like this: 1) Set up a label (can be at any country) 2) Tell the whole world ur using japanese selvedge denim 3) But in fact or maybe some few years later after brand has been established - change ration of japanese to non japanese selvedge to 50:50 4) Slowly change ration in the end to 10:90 where the 10% japanese denim is reserved for the highest end/priced product 5) Whole world will still be thinking ur using 100% japanese denim due to earlier propaganda 6) The obligatory - profit!!!!!!!!!!111 Btw china also has a thriving selvedge denim industry that has been producing denim for local staple brands/military uniforms for decades (Red Cloud comes to mind).... not to scare anyone but if any of those current selvedge jeans maker would mix some of these material into their goods.... who would know rite? Just a point to ponder though so please dont let my post freak u out about ur next selvedge jeans purchase haha! |
