i got a jeans hemming question. but my pair aint selvage so i hope its ok to post here since this thread gets the most views.

i got a pair of Uniqlo Slim Fit Straight. its around 2-3 inches too long. doesn't touch the ground when i wear shoes tho. but im not too fond of the stacking. im planning to shorten it by 2 inches. But im afraid after i shorten it will affect the slim silhouette. right now i do a double 1 inch cuff.

1 inch like no difference.

i do not own a pair a selvedge denim but i have a denim related question.

what do u guys think about cuffing jeans ? i plan to do a double 1 inch cuff

tried on Gap 1969 selvage authentic skinny today. tried a size 32 and it was snug at the waist but the other parts were bit loose. but i had problems bending down to tie my laces.

reckon i shud size down ?

its restrictive. i guess the denim is still hard. sizing up would make the fit baggy.

i dun really like the cut tbh. bit loose at the seat n thigh area. seems more carrot than skinny. even the Uniqlo Slim Straight jeans i had on was tighter LOL. but the Gap's leg opening was smaller though.

is cheese denim available around pj ?

is it possible for a regular raw Uniqlo jeans to get fades ?

been wearing my UJ for 6 months and there r only wallet back pocket fade, whiskers n honeycombs r forming but no fades yet. only washed the jeans twice.

thats disappointing. could it be caused by the 2% elastane in the UJ ?

i remember my 10+ yr old Levis had some fades.

those Levis i was talking about were in a relaxed fit.

my UJ is slim straight n much tighter than d Levis. I assumed that it was easier to get fades with jeans that fit closer to the body.

My pair of Uniqlo raw (non selvedge) has shrunk about 2 inches in length. bought around 8 months ago and i have washed them about 3 times. original length was 34". 1st 2 times i hand washed them. on friday i machine washed them and line dry in d sun. b4 washing the length was 33". i just measured just now and the length is now 32".

I tot sanforized jeans would barely shrink after a few washes.

prob wont shrink any shorter right ?

i knew they would shrink but didn't realize this much. im relieved i didn't get them hemmed.

i washed at 30 degrees too. this is prob d 1st time i ever measured the length post wash.

would the length stretch back after a few wears ? or does that only happen to the waist

actually im pretty happy they shrank. i was deliberating last yr whether to hem 2 inches or not. luckily i didn't. i also hope they dun stretch out in terms of length already. UJ denim is pretty soft so they dun stack very well. thanks for the info !

because cotton stretches. many times in the past i bought jeans n chinos that were comfortable in the waist. after 2-3 times wearing the waist expands n starts to get loose. other parts like seat n thigh also get baggy. d mistake a lot of guys make is buying pants one size bigger n not accounting for stretching. the waist gets too loose n bunches up when a belt is worn. quite ugly.

the amount of stretch varies a lot depending on quality of cotton, weave n etc. however its easy to get cotton to shrink back...just wash the item of clothing n its back to normal.

when it comes to t shirts i prefer those with a little elastane or polyester because those synthetics prevent the cotton from stretching out too much over the course of the day,

i think around 2. but jeans r mostly vanity sized anyway so best to just try it on.

usually 32 will fit me snugly. then i'll try on 31 n if i can button up i'll take 31.

have u tried wearing boxer briefs or thinner underwear with the APC ? those boxers u have on wont go too well with tight fitting jeans.
