i got a jeans hemming question. but my pair aint selvage so i hope its ok to post here since this thread gets the most views.
i got a pair of Uniqlo Slim Fit Straight. its around 2-3 inches too long. doesn't touch the ground when i wear shoes tho. but im not too fond of the stacking. im planning to shorten it by 2 inches. But im afraid after i shorten it will affect the slim silhouette. right now i do a double 1 inch cuff.

QUOTE(jhchong @ Dec 11 2012, 05:59 PM) Seriously? If you're having trouble just by bending down, you should size up. If the cut cannot work, try another one. its restrictive. i guess the denim is still hard. sizing up would make the fit baggy. QUOTE(lullerskatez @ Dec 11 2012, 06:08 PM) I would leave it for now because my pair of Gap stretched alot. It turned from skinny to straight fit lol i dun really like the cut tbh. bit loose at the seat n thigh area. seems more carrot than skinny. even the Uniqlo Slim Straight jeans i had on was tighter LOL. but the Gap's leg opening was smaller though.

QUOTE(jhchong @ Dec 28 2012, 12:51 PM) Minimal, very. Even if you work at a construction site. thats disappointing. could it be caused by the 2% elastane in the UJ ? but it is possible for regular jeans to get fades rite ? i remember my 10+ yr old Levis had some fades.

QUOTE(jhchong @ Dec 28 2012, 06:29 PM) As most jeans are already stone washed and what not.its best to get a raw one to even give yourself a chance of owning a pair with your own character so as they say. And like you said, it takes ten years for a normal Levi's to have some fades. those Levis i was talking about were in a relaxed fit. my UJ is slim straight n much tighter than d Levis. I assumed that it was easier to get fades with jeans that fit closer to the body.

My pair of Uniqlo raw (non selvedge) has shrunk about 2 inches in length. bought around 8 months ago and i have washed them about 3 times. original length was 34". 1st 2 times i hand washed them. on friday i machine washed them and line dry in d sun. b4 washing the length was 33". i just measured just now and the length is now 32".
I tot sanforized jeans would barely shrink after a few washes.
prob wont shrink any shorter right ?

QUOTE(dlaz @ Jan 14 2013, 06:56 AM) they shrink but not as much as unsanforized. regarding the inseam, while they were damp you should stretch them.another trick is hang them upside down. did you machine wash with high temperature?should use cold like 30 degress only. i just machine wash my nudies, not so much shrinkage. i knew they would shrink but didn't realize this much. im relieved i didn't get them hemmed. i washed at 30 degrees too. this is prob d 1st time i ever measured the length post wash. would the length stretch back after a few wears ? or does that only happen to the waist

QUOTE(dlaz @ Jan 15 2013, 06:49 AM) maybe you can soak them in cold water, use a bucket will do.then while they are damp, maybe pull them down.and then hang them upside down.maybe it can stretch a bit. i put some water on areas that i want to stretch to make it damp, like the waist or thigh. actually im pretty happy they shrank. i was deliberating last yr whether to hem 2 inches or not. luckily i didn't. i also hope they dun stretch out in terms of length already. UJ denim is pretty soft so they dun stack very well. thanks for the info !

QUOTE(egyprince @ Feb 22 2013, 11:19 AM) Hi guys....i jus curious...izit you all always wear the jean until it is tight fit or cannot button (for the first wear)? May i know what is the reason behind this for size down from normal size? because cotton stretches. many times in the past i bought jeans n chinos that were comfortable in the waist. after 2-3 times wearing the waist expands n starts to get loose. other parts like seat n thigh also get baggy. d mistake a lot of guys make is buying pants one size bigger n not accounting for stretching. the waist gets too loose n bunches up when a belt is worn. quite ugly. the amount of stretch varies a lot depending on quality of cotton, weave n etc. however its easy to get cotton to shrink back...just wash the item of clothing n its back to normal. when it comes to t shirts i prefer those with a little elastane or polyester because those synthetics prevent the cotton from stretching out too much over the course of the day,

QUOTE(egyprince @ Feb 22 2013, 03:04 PM) So do usually you all size down 1 or 2 for all the raw denim? Actu my momo x jb waist do become loose a bit (more then 1inch i think) comparing to other part of the jeans. i think around 2. but jeans r mostly vanity sized anyway so best to just try it on. usually 32 will fit me snugly. then i'll try on 31 n if i can button up i'll take 31.

QUOTE(Lordz` @ Feb 24 2013, 11:10 PM) Thanks! Now I'm wondering will the fit looks awkward because it is too fitting? Btw is Tough Jeans consider as raw denim? the pics too close up...hard to say. take a full body shot la. have u tried wearing boxer briefs or thinner underwear with the APC ? those boxers u have on wont go too well with tight fitting jeans.
