I just complete the migration job for my Tech Sharing blog migration from the VPS back home. Because of my home is VIP5 dynamic IP, so i use the DNSExit to map the IP to the domain name with the TTL = 2 mins

Can anybody to help to test to open the page and see how's the speed performance, and please do share if anyone know the side effect of setting the TTL = 2 mins and is there any alternative solution to increase the performance.

Your comment and suggestion is very much appreciated.

If anyone want to know the setting or software I use to create the whole setting, I can share it here later on.

currently my internet speed is kinda slow so I won't give much comment for the site speed.

you can consider combining the js and css into 1 file(both together) or 2 files(both js and css separated) so there will be less request = less blocking = faster loading speed.

There's plugins like w3 total cache that you can play with.
*
Because i'm using the Win 7 + IIS 7 + FastCGI PHP + wincache, do you have experience with this?

Is the w3 total cache able to run on win? previously got some bad experience with w3total cache, so after i migrate the web site back home, dint install it. maybe can try to get feedback from all people from lowyat forum, if bad performance, than may consider to add it.

nope, never tried to deploy sites in IIS before(played with it a lil only)

what's the bad experience?
*
I remember at the very initial time when i learn the wordpress, whenever need to upgrade those cache plugin, there are a lot of thing need to do, turn off this, delete that, change permission for this and that.

That's make me scare about the cache plugin.

Fast enough from UK. ANyway, since I see you have Adsense non your site, better to have privacy policy as that is required by Google. There are cases where user account got banned just because of policy.
*
Just to check with you guy, do using the low TTL in DNS setting will effect the site? if yes, for those dynamic IP hosting, what and how should handle this?

Is that a must to have the privacy policy? i never notice about that.

Anyway, thanks for your advice.

You can't really use cloudflare with dynamic IP, unless you use cloudflare as a cname to another address
*
Just to check, do CloudFlare provide the facility to avoid DDOS? seem like my web site start to having heavy traffic but no referer found.

It normally start from night time and keep access the site for few hours about 100MB of data being uploaded(site being access).

Or do anyway to avoid the DDOS (Syn floor) attack?

Added on July 9, 2012, 5:42 pm1 good thing for dynamic IP is I want to avoid those connection I just restart my router and the site will be inaccessible within few minutes under the DNS being update. (TTL is 2 mins)

Just wondering is there any a true protection that can really give me maximum possible protection to the web server as well as save up the traffic?

I hear some of the company that they actually create a lot of proxy and redirect those suspicious traffic to the invalid proxy to save up the web traffic, but not too sure how's it work.

Not sure is it only me or what. Click on any link takes 2 to 3 seconds to respond before load. But overall quite okay with repeated view since this is hosted at home smile.gif

Thanks for help

I don't know whether it is my connection or your site.
The loading took longer than normal Malaysia hosted site, but once the page load it is instant, means without slowly loading one image and another slowly.
*
I suspecting there are 2 possibility,

1st is because of the low Time to leave for the DNS which currently I set to 2 mins to expire, this is because I using the dynamic IP, so once the IP change, i need to refresh all DNS asap.

2nd is maybe the Wordpress W3t cache, not too sure how to monitor or tuning on it, i just use the standard default setting for this cache, hopefully it help.

For free? No.
Proper DDOS mitigation requires
1.UDP/ICMP Filtering
2.TCP Filtering
3.Basic HTTP Filtering

At the very least , I don't think any company will offer this for free, the better companies all charge upwards of $99
*
how about any moderate price hardware that can achieve this function? home level or enterprise level router which cost around few hundred?

But if we apply the hardware just infront of the web server, that's no use for the DDOS attack right? just can protected the web server to be hijacked by the hacker only right?
