The day Maxis implement

1) Quota
2) P2P throttling

is the day I will switch to Unify
*
Then the week after, Unifi implements the same (it's in their T&C too, remember?). Then what???

Just had my ftth installed. Pretty smooth as it was using the same btu as my existing Unifi, no new wiring required.
And learned something new, the Fiberhome box can handle multiple services simultaneously. I haven't terminated my Unifi yet, so now I have Unifi and MHF both running in my house... And both my fixed line numbers.

I'm also existing Unifi user, during installation the TM team didn't give new modem. Maxis team just connect their Thomson router to existing TM modem at port LAN 2 (Unifi router connect to port LAN 1) and complete the installation.

Yup, that's right, the TM control centre just configures LAN2 to offer MHF service and the Maxis guy connects the Thomson box to the old modem at LAN2. Unifi stuff still connected at LAN1. The contractor took back the new modem that he brought.

Only slight problem, they were not aware I was an existing Unifi customer, so hadn't done the necessary setup at the TM end. And the Maxis guy didn't know how to resolve it until the TM guy called their NOC and sorted it out.

So far so good...

Hi all, the Maxis CS called yesterday to confirm the installation date which on this coming Saturday. Same case as above, they said they will come to install first without Modem..... the modem will provide to me only at the end of the month.... Can i know if i prefer using my own modem(With Wi Fi), which brand and model is compatible with Maxis Home Fiber??? Thanks.......

What's the point of installing without the modem? You can't use the service and you can't change your mind. Think they just want to tie you down first...

the problem with maxis is responsiveness of the service...latency, stability still leaves much to be desired..

public wifi can be turned off from the router.
Torrent seems okay, but some users face issue on the performance on direct download sites, such as rapidshare.
Notice that youtube viewing isnt too smooth either,

From one of the forumers here, seems maxis is doing some maintenance work till end of the month, but don't know if it will solve all these issues. If you are very particular about stability and responsiveness, then I suggest not to switch just yet until the problems are resolved.

Dunno about you, but my experience with Unifi was not that perfect either... No DC, but the occasional slowing down to a crawl, solved by restarting the router.
