Got my 10mbps from Maxis yesterday, getting good speed but ping average about 30~35ms, probably due to a high rise building that runs on copper?

Hey guys, how do I check if I'm on public IP or not, I've requested to maxis for the public IP and they have processed it. Changed my login id to public.maxis.com.my too. If I can access via public.maxis.com.my means i'm already on public IP? Thanks in advance smile.gif

seems like xDSL linestate down problem can only be fixed by rebooting the thompson router eh? Also I can't seem to find the page in the router to configure it to google dns sweat.gif

Usually when disconnections happens, It says that connectivity to the DNS server failed. I want to set it to google dns but it seems that I can't find any options to do so

That means either you can disconnect and reconnect again. The DNS should be fine.
By setting to Google DNS, would it resolve the connectivity to DNS server issue should it fail again the next time ?
*
Kinda annoying when you're in a middle of a game and connections just goes poof. It might resolve, I don't know yet till I get to try it. Since the connectivity check says its always the DNS that's failing everytime I get disconnected cry.gif

did you using cable or wifi, both connection also got this problems?
*
Both, not the connection to the PC/Laptop problem. Its the DNS that's screwing up I guess, first router I've seen that don't have the option to switch to my own dns rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

yes, i found this method too, but i'm dare not to do it.

need to flush it before add new dns?
*
I didn't though, just add in 2 more lines of DNS without removing maxis's preset DNS then I rebooted my router. Automatically its my primary and secondary dns

"dns server route add dns=208.67.222.222 metric=5 intf=Internet"

Quoted from the telnet page, where you change the values as needed.
