Made a query to Asus Malaysia facebook. Here's their reply:

Read from Engadget Chinese that Hong Kong will start selling Nexus 7 soon and the RRP would be HKD2398 (~RM963) for 16GB. So, this could probabbly be the price if Asus starts selling it in Malaysia.

I specfically asked Asus Malaysia if Nexus 7 bought from US will get the warranty here and here's the reply from Asus Malaysia facebook:
