so google announce their new tablet.

everything sounds too good to be true and the price is insane

but the big problem is the memory.
just 8GB/16GB variant with no sd card slot?

what???

for galaxy tab, advertise as 16GB, but really just got 13.11GB
for galaxy S2, advertise as 16GB, but really just got 11.5GB

so this nexus 7, 8GB, whats the real user available capacity?
6GB?

so i'm suppose to have 2GB for clockworkmod backup
1GB for apps
1GB for songs
1GB for Pics
1GB for videos?
that's it????

how am i goin to watch movies?
or keep pics? just install 1 HD game already no space already.

this storage limit is just ridiculous.

use the cloud? ya right, with malaysia's upload and download speed,
sigh...my tablet dream crushed....

Its meant to compete with the Amazon Kindle, in terms of pricing. As a trade off, we don't expect massive storage or high-res camera.

what you expect, just 199USD for 8GB
furthermore, they said 8gb sure won't 100% got 8GB space
just like hard disk, u buy 1tb
actually just got 9xx GB, because they recognize 1k = 1kb / mb / gb
which should be 1024

at last, the system also need the space, just like computer install windows

Yea true this but with my current internet connection which is 1Mbps (I suppose not ALL people are on UniFi), I will not waste time uploading 1080p vacation videos to my cloud storage, and that 1Mbps is just download, upload is just 512Kbps, you do the math is say my video is 2GB in size and don't forget to minus 9% TCP/IP overhead for the 512Kbps connection.

1M Streamyx only 384kbps upload laugh.gif Upload one 1080p maybe takes... 24hous? wink.gif

then just get the 16gb version? what's all the fuss? it's just RM150 more, it's still cheaper than the cheapest Samsung crap you can get...

i think TS just doesn't get the point of this tablet, the 8gb version will be mainly used for reading books, streaming movies, light internet browsing, casual gaming, satnav, and video chatting. if u want heavy gaming, u must have the 16gb version.

if u want to store HD movies, invest more and buy a proper Asus tablet with the keyboard dock, u can have as much as storage u want depending on how much money u have (2TB portable HDD? no problem)

excuse me but Tablet S is an outdated product, the specs can't even compete with the Nexus 7, not to mention sony is shxt in the android software dept.

I'm surveying around right now but it looks like it'll at most cost RM750 a piece for the 8GB version. thumbup.gif

If you look around at XDA or some tech sites apparently USB-OTGshould be supported but more confirmation is needed for now.

drawback:
Nexus 7 does not support MHL, meaning there's no way to connect this over HDMI to get video output.
